Still waiting on some more parts (PLA bushings, RAMPS electronics, heated print bed and a few other little things) but the frame is built and is solid. Opted for the 'army green' for the printed pieces...turned out pretty nice.
A 3D printed Vaporeon Pokémon, with all the necessary supports.
This print came out fine, there's a layering issue on the bottom, but not a big deal. And lots of stringing.

I have been going to the Edge Digital Culture Centre since 2011. I have seen it change many times different faces different rooms and different pieces of technology. I have called this picture 3D printing a dream because with a 3D printer any dream is possible and the edge lets any one realize this dream by providing not only the tools but also the help needed. I will most likely see it change again but I know that it will all ways be a place that can make dreams happen.

Just a close-up of the drive gear. This attaches to the extruder motor. The filament is pressed into the grooved channel by a freewheeling bearing on a spring loaded part; as the motor turns, the grooves grip the filament and push it through the "hot end" which melts it.
After overheating the MOSFET on the extruder controller repeatedly we added a heat sink to it, but it still overheated. We then wired up this Hella (probably for a car horn) relay and used the 12v from the power supply to power the HBP. Now it works great, and maintains whatever temp is specified in the gcode or the control panel.
