Neben "City of Lights" gibt es nun sogar eine Konkurrenzveranstaltung zur Stadtillumination - mit beachtlichen Effekten bei den Video-Projektionen!
An der Fassade der "Mall of Berlin", am Standort des einstigen Kaufhaus Wertheim am Leipziger Platz, ist derzeit eine kontrovers diskutierte Video-Installation zu sehen.
Künstlerisch interpretierte verfremdete Szenen aus 150 Jahren Berliner Geschichte sind zu sehen - und so werden denn auch verfremdete Nazi-Fahnen und ein Hitler-Kopf an die Fassade projiziert, begleitet von Ton-Aufnahmen von Joseph Goebbels ("Wollt ihr den totalen Krieg?"), die über Lautsprecher verbreitet werden.
Der Testlauf der Installation führte Montag nacht zu einem Polizei-Einsatz - die Berliner sind wachsam :-)

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory is adding a new dimension to our understanding of space.
Using a new X-ray tomography method, researchers have created the first 3D maps of molecular clouds in the center of the Milky Way - dubbed the “Stone” and the “Sticks” clouds. They used Chandra data spanning two decades to create their 3D models of the Stone and Sticks molecular clouds. While astronomers typically only see two spatial dimensions of objects in space, the X-ray tomography method allows us to measure the third dimension of the cloud because the X-rays illuminate individual slices of the cloud over time.
Visual Description:
This release features a panoramic image, approximately 1,100 light-years across, of the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. Billowy clouds, in shades of mostly red and blue, stretch across the middle of the image which is much wider than it is tall. Toward the right side of the image is a tiny, bright ball of light. This ball of light is Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the core of our galaxy.

Next video loop of my 3d Projection mapped sculpture (Permutation 030) combines 2D, 3D, Digital, And Physical. The size of the sculpture is: 14,5 * 14,5 * 4 cm. Painted in rough, dull grey. Working on a better surface for the next sculpture, more UV-mappings and interactivity for parametric animations in the next installation.
Film of my installation CurvedCubes. Sculpture: CurvedCubes02 with 3d projectionmapping on the surface. I reworked the surface and used a dull white paint on it to reduce the translucent and the highlights. I used D3 Designer from @disguise_one for the 3d projectionmapping on the surface. A full HD videobeamer for the projection and a Sony alpha 6300 to film.

This project was inspired by the work of an incredibly talented community of artists and designers that are using video mapping as a medium to reinterpret and transform banal, expected environments. The work of Pablo Valbuena was a strong influence over our explorations, and we sought to introduce dynamic interactivity to augmented sculpture as our novel addition to this community.
Developed in C++, Openframeworks, and OpenNI, we are using the depth mapping capabilities of the kinect to evaluate the viewer(participant's) hand, and position it as the light source of the physical model. In effect, their hand becomes the sun, lighting or dimming our abstracted cityscape.
