n the early 1990’s I made my first attempt to attend art school at the now-defunct Maryland College of Art and Design in Wheaton, Maryland (it has since merged with Montgomery College). It was very difficult because I was working full-time in a corporate office at the time and the school had classes that had a very intense schedule. Each class was scheduled for one day a week but it ran for seven hours. Due to that schedule, I was only able to take classes on Saturdays but I ended up dropping out after two semesters because I really couldn’t keep up with such a schedule while I was working full-time.

The teacher I had for Design I class had this class project whose requirements I had to fulfill (I had to use white gesso and foamcore and it also had to be three-dimensional) This relief was the result. The results pleased the instructor but, to be honest, this isn’t the kind of work I would’ve done if I had to do it on my own without a teacher. I sold the relief at the 2006 Crafty Bastards Festival in Washington, DC.

skin d.e.e.p. - digital ephemeral epidermal patterns by //benitez_vogl - Margarita Benitez and Markus Vogl's latest investigation in 3D printed exoskeletal jewelry that results in temporary patterns on skin. After pressure is applied to the 3D printed prosthesis it leaves a pattern that resembles snake skin. It lasts for about 15 minutes. In the gallery setup it shows the documentation images as well as the sculptures.
