This image shows the general 3d animation pipeline. The pipeline can very a bit depending on the project, but once you move through the pipeline it can be difficult to go back and make changes.
Here's another frame from the updated Regal 'Roller Coaster' animation I worked on back in 2009.
This is the front tunnel where the ride begins and where a number of the theater's policies are displayed on various monitors.
The tunnel elements were all modeled and surfaced using Lightwave 9.6 (textures were baked). The lighting, motion, and rendering was done in modo 401. The rendered elements were comped in After Effects CS4.
Check out the finished animation on Regal Theaters YouTube channel, though it looks best when seen on the big screen at it's native digital 4K resolution.
