One of the many eggs at the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt at Rockefeller Center.
There are about 260 egg sculptures on display throughout the plaza until this Friday, April 25.
Created by some of the world’s leading artists, designers, photographers, architects and other creatives, they are quite fantastic and worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood...
I took part with a friend in the Fabergé Big Egg hunt in London. At the start I wasn't really interested in taking photos of eggs : what I'm going to do with all these photos ... ?
But little by little I changed my mind. I did like my friend : i took lots of photos, I posted a wide selection on Picassa / G+ (#) and I even entered 16 photos in a photo competition sponsored by Sony !
Last week I was pleased to learn that one of my image was selected in the top 20 images for the Big Egg Hunt competition. As I was short-listed, my image will be part of a collage which will be exhibited at Somerset House this week-end (27-29 April) as part of the festival wekeend "World Photo london".
My image is a composite made from 3 different photos :
* the original view of London featuring the famous St Mary Axe building.
* A Fabergé egg called "ascension" and was created by Caio Locke and 3D Eye.
* The"Egg Letter box" was created by Benjamin Shine.

This sculpture was made by PJ Cook and cast by 3DEye. The decoration and embellishment was applied by Carrie Reichardt and Nick Reynolds to turn it into a masterful Trojan horse. Its head has been transformed into a skull and the body is covered in intricate mosaic telling the history of the horse including thought-provoking facts about how people have used and worked with horses in the past.
Trojan Horse was part of "Horse Parade", a display of ten horses exhibited throughout the town last year as part of Cheltenham Museum and Art Gallery's offsite programme and celebrations marking the Cheltenham Festival centenary. After this the horses were auctioned for various charities and this wonderful work of art is still for sale.

Many years ago I bought a book '3D Eye' on the art of Michael English, he used to design posters for rock concerts along with trendy fashion shops in the 1960;s, but ventured into some quite extraordinary realism, he would paint reflections in puddles among a myriad of other things. Again artists are influencing what I like to photograph. 3D Eye is a great source book, full of great ideas, even my teenage daughter plunders the numerous ideas contained within it.

Hugh Jackman, aka the Wolverine, is pictured with his co-stars infront of the giant Claws display feature fabricated by myself and others while working at 3deye in London.
A giant Wolverine claw sculpted in polystyrene is being moulded by myself and others in the glass fibre department st 3deye in London.
We cast 6 copies of this and mounted them on bases for the movie premiere in July 2013.

Big Egg Hunt egg number 103, "Eggbert" by 3D Eye. This cheeky chap was 2013's version of the "Where's Wally?" egg from 2012. The annoying blighter kept flitting all over London until they tethered him down in Covent Garden towards the end of the egg hunt event :)

Out of countenance is a dialogue between two faces, deformed and transformed by a digital process into something strange, obsolete. The facial expressions are exaggerated and amplified, drew in a 3-Dimensional space, bringing the common feeling of expression in a different and distorted perception. The human face as known looses its physiognomy, allowing the other face to overlap, mix, fuse within it, turning into a digital creature, an extension of the human being in the digital era.
Two performers stands in front of their computer, positioned one to the extreme left and the other at the extreme right of the stage. The computers capture the performers faces thru their internal webcams, generating an interactive video flow that is projected on a screen. The projection screen fills the whole stage standing between the two performers. The two computers generate also an interactive audio flow. The performers interact with the system thru their movement, the expressions and distortions of their faces, generating different visuals and sounds.
The software in use in the two computers is created within MaxMSP/Jitter, two different patches are running on each computer.
The video images are captured in realtime by the two webcams, combined in different ways, distorted in time and space and transposed in a 3d environment.
Video and audio are always related, in sync and always interacting between each other.
The audio has different natures, pre-made, modified in realtime, realtime generated and generated via webcam interaction. The two software contained in both computer act as one audio visual generating flux and it has a fix time schedule that permit the performance development to have a precise order and execution.
