Johnson condensing 3F 0-6-0T 47223 photographed working at 2.22pm (see clock on Toton Down Sidings North signal box) at 18A Toton during the March 1963. The Jinty is a real old-timer and was built by Vulcan Foundry in 1901. With its condenser the engine spent most of its life in London but according to BR database it had moved to Toton on 9th March 1963. Whether that date is exactly right may be in doubt but it probably had only been there a short time when Neil photographed it.

The houses in the distance are Midland Avenue & Brookhill Street in Stapleford where Neil's grandfather, Head Shunter at Toton, lived.

Fowler 3F Jinty 47482 with it's oddly placed number again. This time definitely Crewe and the loco is shunting some Royal Mail Vans. No date but 60's.

The loco was new to the LMS as 16565 in January 1928 and became 7482 in 1934. She was withdrawn in October 1966 and cut up at Cohens in Kettering in February 1967.
