Printed on a Makerbot Replicator 2

September 2014 - Maker Studio launches to the public.

This is now visibly past the mark where the pizza killed the makerbot last time. Note the plastic filament appearing to be tangled in the background.

Fear not, dear reader, this is under control. I found an otherwise unused lazy susan (we call them darth susan in my house) which fit nicely under the already somewhat tangled coil. A small amount of manual manipulation now keeps it from getting away from me.

Not a terrible print.

I had to scale it down (80%) from the raw size, as the first attempt caused the platform to ram the nozzle into the build platform's protruding screws in a very unpleasant way.

The eyes and tentacles printed fairly well.

Once the crashing and stress was accounted for, it was actually enjoyable to watch the serpentine motions, and some of the fill was at a very slight angle causing the Y axis to emit a very bass note I'd not heard out of the often musical device before.

The bottom of this case grips the board nicely. Although the RCA port didn't line up right.

The top of the case did not mate too well to the bottom, even after some sanding and cajoling.

The parts themselves are slightly warped away from one another. Perhaps I should've let them full cool before prying them off of the print platform.

I think I will have to modify this design or start one of my own with a better strategy for attaching the pieces.

Box C has fans and other things.

This special tank is apparently necessary for washing off the support material from a newly printed model.

The 3D Printer in the library offers students a unique and fun experience.

The Makerbot Replicator allows for scanning of objects and then printing those products.

Many objects can be printed using the 3D Printer.
