A color 3D model of a water-soluble peptide was made based on the crystallographic experimental coordinates (www.PDB.org). The peptide model was 'fine-tuned' (color, scale & representation) in PyMol (www.pymol.org) before being converted to a VRML file format and 3D printed in NextFab Studio's Z-Corp Spectrum Z510 3D printer. Tech Supervisor Derek Spence of NextFab has developed techniques which allow us to push the limits of the 3D printing process and successfully build models of this complexity.

Here is a quick video of me holding my iPhone recording video in one hand while the small firewire cam hooked up to the PC live tracks the symbol that is in my other hand. The audio is low, but you can live track 3D animations with audio to play back when the symbol is tracked.

ShowerTek is a shower-head that includes an attached flexible mirror-do-hicky that won't fog up in the shower.
In 1994 I was hired to create a number of CG animated elements for use in the point-of-purchase video for this product. It was a fun project to work on and the video ended up winning a Telly Award that year.
Recently I revisited the CG model and did some updated renders.

Z Corp. ZPrinted wrench printed on a ZPrinter 650. 3D model was printed in full color, and it works! It's a fully-functioning wrench. The red "screw" part of the wrench was printed in the same build as part one entire wrench - it was not added separately after the build. www.zcorp.com
