#398 enters the western outskirts of Springfield after getting recrewed at Bates. The new bear crew had to wait in the hole for #120 to run around them and then to meet #145. Today's train has seven units on the head end. Only the front two engines are actually in working order. The rest are headed to Decatur for some TLC at the locomotive servicing facility.

Newly into service, Lancashire United 398 emerges from the gloom of Salford Greengate at the start of its journey to Hindley on service 38. The 5 single doorway "Jumbo" Daimler Fleetlines were numbered 394/398-400/403, with the 5 dual doorway buses taking the missing numbers.
