Marina Bay Sands ist ein Resort an der Marina Bay in Singapur, das von Las Vegas Sands erbaut und 2010 eröffnet wurde. Das 20 Hektar umfassende Resort wurde von Moshe Safdie Architects entworfen. Die Anlage besteht aus einem Casino, einem Hotel, einem Konferenz- und Ausstellungszentrum, einem Einkaufszentrum, einem Kunst- und Wissenschaftsmuseum, zwei Theatersälen, diversen Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten, Bars und Nachtclubs sowie zwei schwimmenden Pavillons.
Die drei 55-stöckigen Hoteltürme tragen auf 191 Meter Höhe einen 340 Meter langen Dachgarten. Teil der größten öffentlichen Auslegerplattform ist ein 146 Meter langer Infinity Pool. Das Resort gilt als die teuerste alleinstehende Kasinoanlage der Welt. Die Grundstückkosten eingerechnet soll der Bau acht Milliarden Singapur-Dollar (rund 4,6 Milliarden Euro) gekostet haben. Am 20.04.22 passiert die Brohltal Eisenbahn 218 396-0 mit ihrem leeren Aluzug den Dormagener Rangierbahnhof in Richtng Köln fahrend.
Fall colors go well with Chessie engines, even if it was "CSX" by the date of this photo. #396 was a premier auto-parts train on the B&O and later CSX to Baltimore and Wilsmere. The train later became R296 and eventually Q296 before GM Closed shop at Wilsmere in the mid 2000s and the 296/297 went away (if you don't count the Baltimore bound, all-rack version that briefly ran circa 2010). #6151 leads, and is (was) a favorite engine of mine. It was repainted into YN2 in 1991 at Huntington, and eventually became one of the last YN2 painted GP40-2s on CSX. It had been equipped with cab signals, so I routinely had the engine while working RF&P jobs. I loved the YN2 paint scheme, and the rock-pilot plow it retained. The throttle lever however, had become so worn it no longer had "notches". It was one, smooth motion just like a dynamic brake handle. Alas, one day #6151 returned wearing dark future colors. They had also removed the Chessie rock pilot and installed a generic plow. To add insult to injury, a hi-def inward facing camera now faces at your crotch the entire time. It makes for a miserable day on the local, considering just putting your feet on the heater is considered "sleeping" by CSX management and will result in a charge.
