Stonehouse Court Hotel and the Severn & Thames Canal at Stonehouse.

The main house of the Stonehouse Court Hotel dates from 1601, although much rebuilt following a fire in 1908, and was Listed Grade II* in 1960. However, the 17th century structure seen today is on the site of a building that was recorded in the 1086 Domesday Book. It seems likely that the house noted then gave its name to the area as, rather unusually for the time, it was built of stone, rendered at the time as 'stan hus', quite recognisable as the present town of Stonehouse. 20th century extensions on the west side have given it 36 bedrooms.
