L'Ile de Cézembre ou l'Île aux bombes...Elle en porte aujourd'hui encore les lourds stigmates, puisque la quasi totalité de ses terres est minée de bombes... L'infime partie sécurisée est par contre très prisée pour sa plage, seule bande de sable de l'Ille-et-Vilaine exposée plein Sud.Habité dès la préhistoire, ce grand bout de landes et de rochers situé à quatre kilomètres des remparts de Saint-Malo a une vue panoramique unique sur la Baie, de Cancale au Cap Fréhel. Si les attaques se sont succédées depuis ses fortifications, c'est à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale que Cézembre a le plus souffert. Occupée par les Allemands, l'île est un lieu stratégique pour empêcher le débarquement.
Les Américains la prennent donc en ligne de mire et multiplient les attaques à la fin du mois d'août 1944.
En quelques jours, ce sont plus de 20.000 bombes et des assauts au napalm qui ravagent cette avancée malouine.

A church was built in Möðrudalur in 1949 by Jón A. Stefánsson. A guesthouse, a small store and a restaurant are operated in the area. Nearby the settlement one finds also the Kunsthalle Tropical.
The lowest temperature ever recorded in Iceland, -38.0 °C (-36.4 °F) was recorded concurrently in Möðrudalur and the neighboring Grímsstaðir on 21 January 1918.

Die 1886/99 eröffnete Strecke gehörte einst zu den stärker frequentierten Schmalspurbahnen in Sachsen und wurde 1972 wieder stillgelegt. Die einst 38,8 km lange Strecke mit Spurweite 750mm führte von Freital-Potschappel über Kesselsdorf, Wilsdruff und Mohorn nach Nossen.
Die hier fotografierte Brücke über die Freiberger Mulde befindet sich bei Kilometer 38,0 kurz vor Nossen.

I took this stunning moon rise shot from the balcony of our hotel room whilst we were on holiday. The shot was helped as we were on the top floor of the hotel and i could get a good angle for the shot.
I had to use a very long shutter speed to get this shot as it as very dark. I think that the shutter speed was something like 120 seconds. To get the moon to look not over exposed i took a shot of it with a very Fast shutter speed and then fixed it in the post processing.

Post-Processing Steps
I used Photoshop to bring in the two images the long exposure and the single exposure of the moon. Then I ran the long exposure through topaz adjust to correct the exposure and the brightness. I also used topaz denoise to get rid of the noise in the image. Once the background image was cleaned up I put the good moon shot on top of the moon that was blurred and over exposed from the long exposure and cleaned up the image. Once all this was done i used groups and adjustment layers to get the picture looking like it does. Then I exported it to a jpeg.
This picture was Explored and was at position #497 on May 10, 2011. The first time one of my pictures was featured in Explore.

The subject in this image is a Zuni wolf fetish. The wolf is considered to be a guardian of the East. In the Zuni culture fetishes represent animal spirits that reside in the stone used in the carving. The stones used in this carving are jet and turquoise. The wolf symbolizes successful hunting and working together to benefit the group, The wolf is also considered a teacher and a pathfinder.

Diane feels good in the Magic Bus, a private bus that was used by a salt mining company to transport their workers until it broke down and was abandoned in the Cordillera de la Sal (the Salt Mountain Range) near Valle de la Luna.
Taken during our first visit to Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon), a must-see landmark of the Chilean Atacama Desert, located just 13 km west of San Pedro.

C/2020 F3 or “Comet NEOWISE” with its two tails is viewed above the 16th-century Varlaam abbey, on top of the geologically unique Meteora, Greece, at astronomical twilight.
The comet was captured on July 19, 2020 at 22:12’ (local time) at an 18° 34’ altitude above horizon and azimuth of 317° 28’. The comet’s visual magnitude was dimmed down to 3.45, its distance from Earth was 0.71 AU, whereas its distance from the Sun was 0.56 AU.
The Varlaam abbey or “monastery” was built in 1517-1518 on a 1,808 ft high (551 m) rock formation. The impressive and lofty rock formations are collectively known as Meteora: The sandstone megaliths’ height varies 1,000-2,067 ft (300-630 m). The rock masses were formed 60 million years ago, are geologically unique and listed in UNESCO world heritage sites.
This photograph was made by stacking 25 light frames by Starry Landscape Stacker (version 1.8.0; algorithm: Min Value). All 25 shots were captured by using the very same camera settings:
