Day 38 of Project 365....
The Emily Morgan Hotel, listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a part of the Alamo Plaza Historic District, is housed in what was once the Medical Arts Building, which began construction in 1924.
Power: 210 bhp @ 5500 rpm
Carburetion: Twin SU HD8
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Brakes: 4 wheel disc with servo assist
Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, and opened down to the wings.
In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by an elegantly leather trimmed dash. Thinner doors gave more interior space as well.
Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in. Disc-Brakes appeared for the first time. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. Steering was by rack and pinion; power steering was not offered.
Presented here is a 1960 Jaguar XK150 DHC, fresh from a long term collection and a recent restoration work. Finished in the most desirable British Racing Green/Beige color combination, no expense was spared when reviving this iconic British roadster. Restoration highlight include: rebuilt mechanicals and drive train back to factory specifications, fresh full interior, re-chromed and polished brightwork, clean paint, and gorgeous silver wire wheels.
Many extras and original pieces accommodate the XK150 such as: original tool set, original heads, original aluminum boot (trunk lid), books, receipts, complete set of chrome wire wheels and tires, wheel knock-off wrench, new car cover, tonneau cover, and maintenance chart! This is an excellent presentation with much recent work and it is accompanied with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate!

The next six stops are in Essex Road but this one isn't - it's in the delightfully named Ball's Pond Road instead
Orlando Air and Space Show at the Orlando Sanford Int'l Airport Oct 16-17, 2021 featured the USAF Thunderbirds, Navy F-18 Rhino Demo Team, USMC MV-22 Osprey, and much more!
I received a fat-eighth of this purple print from a friend, it has been patiently waiting for the right block to come along! It's a lot prettier than the photo shows. I also decided to leave in the little bit of red petal in the centre segment as this piece was cut straight on the grain, otherwise I could have cut off the grain to avoid it but left it as is!!! I really enjoyed putting this block together this morning!
Waipo’o Falls Hike
Head to Waimea Canyon for one of the best Kauai hiking trails on the island. At the end of the hike you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the waterfall pool seen above in a ravine brilliant with lantana, blackberry and banana passion flower.
From here you will be located above spectacular Waipo`o Falls that tumbles 800 feet below in two tiers. This well known Kauai waterfall is seen from many of the canyon lookouts. While only the top of Waipo`o Falls will be visible from the trail, the canyon views are stunning and the hike is moderate enough for all ages to enjoy.
If you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle you can park at the trail head. Otherwise, leave your car in the roadside parking area and walk 3/4 mile to where the trail begins. Once you are on the Canyon Trail expect to see wild ginger, tropical greenery and a dramatic exposed ridge near the end with many photo opportunities.
Most of the trail is downward on a series of switchbacks so the workout will be on the return. One challenge is near the end when you walk from the plateau that juts out over the canyon and down to the waterfall. Wear shoes with good treads for this as it can be slippery. If you are unsure about your footing, just stay at the plateau and enjoy one of the most breathtaking views of Waimea Canyon.
Kauai Hiking Tips
Allow 3 hours for this 3.6 mile round trip hike. Bring water, snacks and wear good hiking shoes. Pack a swimsuit if you want to enjoy the waterfall pool. A light rain jacket may be useful depending on weather. This hike is popular. The best times to hit the trail are early in the day or late afternoon. If you bring your cell phone, you will be able to check messages from the plateau and take a selfie to prove you were here.
Directions: Off road parking is available just past the 14 mile marker and the Pu`u Hina Hina lookout. Look for the Canyon Trail sign. Be sure to leave all valuables securely locked in your trunk, especially if you are hiking early or later in the day.
