CP train #244 approaches Melrose diamond in late afternoon light behind BNSF ET44C4 3780 and Dash 9-44CW 5488. Nice to see some U.S. units in Southern Ontario, and leading too.
Kalinchowk is a little known and rarely visited tourist destination situated in Dolakha, Nepal. This is at the altitude (3790m) which is the highest around the vicinity. From this place one can get a wonderful panoramic view of Gauri Shanker mountain range. Even the lights of Kathmandu valley can be seen from this place at night.
I had an adventurous trekk to this place last weekend. On the way, one of our friends was caught by altitude sickness and we had to stop for few hours. It was already dark . We did campfire and hope things would go right. We nearly had to stay in the middle of the jungle as we could not make it to the attempted destination Kuri. No one had knowledge of how far it was. Finally we decided to form two teams. One team started to move forward to reach Kuri to bring help. I was in that team. It was all dark but we managed to reach Kuri. We found few homes but all locked from outside. We had heard that the place was a seasonal stay. Suddenly one of us noticed some blinking light in a nearby cottage. We asked for help - loud – again and again – but no reply. After several attempts a voice of a woman replied. I felt like heaven!
Finally she (Dolma Pakhrin) and her family agreed to let us stay there. We rescued our another team and it was already 11PM by then!
This shot was taken in next morning after climbing up further 700mtrs from Kuri to reach the Kalinchowk peak.
A modern building in the business sector Birmingham Alabama.
Some buildings are beautiful in their simplicity, I think this building falls into that category.
It could almost be a modern sculpture.

I finally managed a few photos of a Blue Jay. There are enough of them around, but usually hidden or perched at the top of trees or only heard. Dallas Creekside MTB Park and trail, Dallas, Texas, 3 January 2024
