And now, for a little colour:)

Photographed in Cuba a few years ago.

Santa Fe's premier trains side-by-side. On August 21, 1969, the SUPER CHIEF and EL CAPITAN are being serviced at Fort Madison, Iowa. When the SUPER and EL CAP were running as separate sections and generally on time, this was an everyday occurrence at Fort Madison.

I can't be any more specific about this butterfly, but that does not bother me one iota:):)

I just like to see them, and photograph them.

Thanks for looking, etc.:)

at the moment I love these winter scenes, although it is cold outside.

The Old Dominion has used "Virginia is for Lovers" as a slogan for many years; however, there are those that assert that the state is really for those who love horses, such as those seen grazing here east of Bethel, in Clarke County

After waiting for the arrival of the Arizona and California Railroad freight from Parker, AZ seen in this shot: flic.kr/p/2kMpUre the Grand Canyon Limited special finally left BNSF's transcon for the trip south and east to tie up for the night in Parker. The 85 mile run would find them arriving much later than planned well under the cover of darkness. That was where they would spend their first night on their 6 day long Los Angeles to the Grand Canyon and return trip led by ATSF 4-8-4 3751 (built by Baldwin in 1927 and now owned by the San Bernadino Railroad Historical Society) across former home rails as part of the Arizona Centennial Celebration.

The warm low light hints at the lateness of the day as the special rolls south (railroad east) near MP 189 only about a mile and a half from the junction in Cadiz. Glowing purple in the distance are the Providence Mountains which reach heights of over 7000 ft in the stark and beautiful Mojave Desert.

The modern shortline AZCR came into existence in 1991 and was owned by the Park Sierra Group. That small family of roads was sold to RailAmerica in 2002 so seeing original units 10 years later was a treat. Six months after this photo the AZCR became Genesee and Wyoming property when they purchased all the RailAmerica assets.
