37109 heads away from Horncliffe Crossing with the 16.30 Rawtenstall - Bury on Sat 13th May 2023.
This was the first public running day for the loco' in her recently applied Trainload Metals livery.
First day back into revenue earning service on the East Lancashire Railway and Railfreight Metals Sector 37109 looks the business just beyond the crossing at Townsend Fold with the 11.05 Rawtenstall - Heywood.
Vulcan Foundry (Newton-le-Willows) product of February 1963, I photographed several times in BR days when it was in the Petroleum sector based at Thornaby.

As a fill in move I called in at the East Lancs Rly for some Tractor action, a very faded 37109 slowing for the stop at Burrs Halt with the 13.45 Rawtenstall - Heywood. I have photoshopped some darker shades back into the loco. Saturday 14 May 2022. Pole shot.

In faded BR Blue livery 37109 roars away from Ramsbottom with a mixed rake of stock forming the 13.43 Ramsbottom - Bury.
* Pole @ 3m to clear the Polythene tunnel now located in the foreground.
Rewind 15 years back to 2 February 2008, apart from a front end repaint externally 37109 is in as withdrawn condition working test runs as the 15.15 Ramsbottom - Bury at Fernhill. This loco arrived on the East Lancs in November 2007 and was first started up in preservation on 9 December of that year.

Seen crossing Brookesbottom Viaduct, Summerseat which was constructed in 1845 and is still carrying trains today from Bury to Ramsbottom on the East Lancashire Railway.

English Electric 37109 gets into its stride after propelling its nine bogie tanks out onto the CLC Liverpool - Manchester line at Glazebrook East Junction.
British Tar Products at Cadishead was located at the end of the former Exchange sidings that linked the Manchester Ship Canal coal Basin at Partington. In the distance to the left was the line to Partington and Skelton Junction that crossed a high bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal. Either side of the mainline here were extensive sidings for Lancashire Steel, Irlam.

BR Metals Sector liveried 37109 waits time at Bury Bolton Street ELR station with 09.10 Bury - Heywood, its first revenue earning run since overhaul and repaint.

EWS pair 37109 & 37667 'Meldon Quarry Centenary' pass Somerton with the short term 6G99 Meldon-Westbury on 15/02/02. I was lucky to get this as the train was running two hours early and empty because the rake of Tiphook box wagons sourced for this flow of ballast had not been emptied of spoil properly from their previous job and were deemed contaminated so loading was refused.

To my right was the trackbed of the Cheshire Lines Committee route to Partington and Skelton Junction that crossed the Manchester Ship Canal on a high level bridge that still stands today but is blocked off.

At Easter 2003, Engineering on the main line near Water Orton saw freight diversions via Stoke. On 18/04/03 37109 leads 7G25 0500 Bescot-Toton via Stoke past North Staffs Jn, the second of 3 shots i managed of this working, having just beaten it from Uttoxeter !

On a sunny 16/09/96 ex works 37109 passes Derby with 6T91 0940 Chaddesden-Mountsorrel ballast, seen from the works footbridge. The 37 had been overhauled at Toton and was working local trips to confirm all was well before being let venture further afield.
