The Washington State Capitol or Legislative Building in Olympia is the home of the government of the state of Washington.

The building contains chambers for the Washington State Legislature and offices for the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and treasurer and is part of a campus consisting of several buildings.

Buildings for the Washington Supreme Court, executive agencies and the Washington Governor's Mansion are part of the capitol campus.

In the 20 years I have lived in Washington I had never visited the capitol. It was pretty awesome in person and worth a visit.

Happy 10th Birthday to my little-man Samwise!

As I was editing the garden pictures I took, this one spoke to me after I returned to look at my images again after a few hours. I just can't get over all that purple!

This song, one of my favorites from Pet Shop Boys hits many points of my life. Listening to it always hits a nerve or two.

This isn't King's Cross Station in London, but I used the dome light at Washington State's Capitol building to go along with the lyric "to feel the smack of firm government" but like I said it hits on many more nerves than this visual. I may have to revisit this song and try to capture all it touches on in a single photo.

The man at the back of the queue was sent

to feel the smack of firm government

Lingered by the fly poster for a fight

It's the same story every night

I've been hurt and we've been had

You leave home and you don't go back

Someone told me Monday, someone told me Saturday

Wait until tomorrow and there's still no way

Read it in a book or write it in a letter

Wake up in the morning and there's still no guarantee

Only last night I found myself lost

by the station called King's Cross

Dead and wounded on either side

You know it's only a matter of time

I've been good and I've been bad

I've been guilty of hanging around

Someone told me Monday, someone told me Saturday

Wait until tomorrow and there's still no way

Read it in a book or write it in a letter

Wake up in the morning and there's still no guarantee

So I went looking out today

for the one who got away

Murder walking round the block

ending up in King's Cross

Good luck, bad luck waiting in a line

It takes more than the matter of time

Someone told me Monday, someone told me Saturday

Wait until tomorrow and there's still no way

Read it in a book or write it in a letter

Wake up in the morning and there's still no guarantee

There is still no guarantee

A unique melon that is full of flavor down to the rind. With a cantaloupe / honeydew melon taste.

The Meeker Mansion is a 17-room Italianate Victorian mansion located on Spring Street, Puyallup, Washington. It was built by Ezra Meeker, an entrepreneur and Puyallup's first mayor. In 1890, Meeker completed the impressive mansion to please his wife.

The house was designed by Ferrell and Darmer, Architects, of Tacoma. Principal attractions include a formal ballroom, rooftop widow's walk, speaking tubes (forerunner of the intercom) and six coal-burning fireplaces with hand-carved European mantels. In addition, a drawing room, small parlor, and morning parlor.

I still dream of orgonon

I wake up crying

You're making rain

And you're just in reach

When you and sleep escape me

You're like my yo-yo

That glowed in the dark

What made it special

Made it dangerous

So I bury it

And forget

But every time it rains

You're here in my head

Like the sun coming out

Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen

And I don't know when

But just saying it could even make it happen

On top of the world

Looking over the edge

You could see them coming

You looked too small

In their big, black car

To be a threat to the men in power

I hid my yo-yo

In the garden

I can't hide you

From the government

Oh, god, daddy

I won't forget

'Cause every time it rains

You're here in my head

Like the sun coming out

Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen

And I don't know when

But just saying it could even make it happen

But every time it rains

You're here in my head

Like the sun coming out

Looks the sun coming out

Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen

And I don't know when

But just saying it could even make it happen

Just saying it could even make it happen

The sun's coming out

Your son's coming out

[ This song is based on Peter Reich's 1973 memoir, A Book of Dreams. This song is about the close relationship between psychologist and philosopher Wilhelm Reich and his young son, Peter, told from the point of view of the mature Peter. It describes the boy's memories of his life with Reich on their family farm, called Orgonon where the two spent time "cloudbusting", a rain-making process which involved pointing at the sky a machine designed and built by Reich, called a cloudbuster. The song also describes Wilhelm Reich's abrupt arrest and imprisonment, the pain of loss the young Peter felt, and his helplessness at being unable to protect his father.

On 12 December 1941, five days after Pearl Harbor and the day after Germany declared it was at war with the United States, Reich was arrested in his home at 2 a.m. by the FBI and taken to Ellis Island, where he was held for over three weeks. He identified himself at the time as the Associate Professor of Medical Psychology, Director of the Orgone Institute. He was at first left to sleep on the floor in a large hall, surrounded by members of the fascist German American Bund, who Reich feared might kill him, but when his psoriasis returned he was transferred to the hospital ward. It was later discovered that Reich was the victim of mistaken identity; there was a William Reich who ran a bookstore in New Jersey, which was used to distribute Communist material. The FBI acknowledged the mistake in November 1943 and closed Reich's file.]

Yellow brain; Leavenworth, Washington.

Yellow Brain, golden jelly fungus, yellow trembler, and witches' butter are more common names for Tremella mesenterica. It is a common jelly fungus in the Tremellaceae family of the Agaricomycotina. It is most frequently found on dead but attached and on recently fallen branches, especially of angiosperms, as a parasite of wood decay fungi in the genus Peniophora. The gelatinous, orange-yellow fruit body of the fungus, has a convoluted or lobed surface that is greasy or slimy when damp. It grows in crevices in bark, appearing during rainy weather. Within a few days after rain, it dries into a thin film or shriveled mass capable of reviving after subsequent rain.

This fungus occurs widely in deciduous and mixed forests and is widely distributed in temperate and tropical regions that include Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America.

The fungus is edible. Although some have claimed the fungus to be inedible or merely "non-poisonous", most other sources agree that it is edible but flavorless. The gelatinous to rubbery consistency lends texture to soups. In China, the fungus is used by vegetarians to prepare "an immunomodulating cooling soup with lotus seed, lily bulbs, jujube, etc."

Tremella mesenterica produces carbohydrates that are attracting research interest because of their various biological activities.

Snape.

I have so much love, understanding and anger with this character. He is one of the most complex characters in the Potter universe and Alan Rickman brought Snape to life perfectly (and many other characters in other movies/shows) but he will ALWAYS be Severus Snape to me.

His passing pulled dearly on my heartstrings.

One of my favorite shrubs; especially in the autumn months, the Burning Bush.

The Burning Bush is native to central and northern China, Japan, and Korea.

It is a popular ornamental plant in gardens and parks and has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

However, his plant is an invasive species of woodlands in eastern North America. Its importation and sale are prohibited in the states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The city of San Fransico and The Golden Gate Bridge seem to be floating in the clouds on this beautiful gorgeous sunny day.

So, I came up a bit short in my 365 project this year. Life happens and sometimes you have to put things like Flickr on the back burner.

Here's hoping 2017 is a great year for everyone!

Me being the Harry Potter fan I had to take a photo of this!

There were more of the Bertie Bott's Every flavours, but couldn't fit them all in the photo. Grass, sausage, Earthworm, Vomit, Rotten Egg, Black Pepper and mixed are the ones visible.

The full list of flavours are:

Green Apple, Grass, Banana, Blueberry, Marshmallow, Sausage, Lemon, Booger, Earthworm, Dirt, Candy Floss, Cherry, Cinnamon, Earwax, Vomit, Tutti Fruitti, Soap, Watermelon, Rotten Egg, and Black Pepper

Bailey's Family Farm Snohomish, Washington.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. We don't get them very often here in the PNW, but I love a clear blue sky day when it's between 60 and 65 with a light wind!

Not to mention all the wonderful colors of leaves and fruits including these Knuckle Head variety of pumpkins found at Bailey's Family Farm in Snohomish, Washington.
