"And our love could have soared

Over playgrounds and rooftops

Now every park bench screams your name" - Bloc Party I Still Remember

This song has a lot of memories to me, and out of it came this picture.

Feeling a little blue and thoughtful towards my recent past so I thought it was important not to capture my face today as i'm looking at what is no longer there.

The Harley...he is such a funny guy, so goofy.

Well I took this yesterday and decided against using it for my 365 and have been debating ever since if I should put it on here or not... I thought it captures how I have been feeling the past few days but the other picture won my thoughts on 365. Anyway I have put it on here to see what people think and it was only going to waste away unseen on my laptop. Now what to name it?

so, as I promised yesterday, I ventured out of the safe white confines of my room, to find somewhere else to shoot. I didn't even realise about the symmetry behind me until I'd taken the first shot, after which I had to move the chair to make it just right :) This literally is one of the most comfy outdoor chairs ever. Super tired after a 3 mile run in punishing heat, and then yoga. Hopefully my bedroom will actually be cool enough for me to sleep tonight :s

Used www.standingclock.com/ to time how long I stood today. 3 hrs, 45 min today. Hopefully over time I'll be able to stand all day.

2 Dells, 1 HP, and 1 G5 MAC all connected to one keyboard and trackball using Synergy.

haha not really. But those scales go high enough to weigh a baby. Also, before anyone freaks out, I did clean the counter after I stood on it (honest). Have been working from home most days this week, so plenty of cups of tea and biscuits :)

....and not a drop to drink!

YES! I haven't dived for just under three years. The last time I dived incidentally was also in Bermuda. I was genuinely quite scared about today, given that I thought I'd be rocketing up and down like a yo yo trying to control my buoyancy, but, it's like riding a bike. Everything came back to me just fine :) so enjoyable. Unfortunately we were late coming back so I missed minigolf :( sad times, but definitely worth the $20 for two dives - oh the perks of living on a biological station!

I love how foolish everyone looks with regs in their mouths.

life at the moment seems to be sleep row work eat sleep repeat. Gah so tired. But the end is in sight, HWR is in 3 weeks time, so after that it's the end of rowing for the summer. What am I going to do with myself?!!! :)

Late meeting, followed by a 3 course dinner. I barely remember to grab a shot (well only one exposure just before leaving). So not much to choose from, well I guess the important thing is that I got a shot.

Got a couple of pix of toes lately; only seemed right to add some fingers. I like the textures of the chipped paint on the metal and the wood grain in contrast to the softness of his skin, and I thought the colours were complimentary. (It's actually the bar of an emergency exit!)

Edited to add: Explored! on June 15. Yay!!

In the glass we have Keith Tulloch Kester Shiraz 2005, a magnificent wine. Drinkable today, but could be saved 10 or more years I believe (well not this bottle).

Have finally caved to the very typical mirror selfie today. I quite like this one actually. Came second (AGAIN) at trivia - want to win it just once whilst I'm here!! A good friend leaves on Friday to go back to Canada, so a farewell party is in order...... I'm pretty sure my liver will be a lot happier once I'm back in the UK.......

(oh and for the title - there is a cleaning lady that works here, and I walked through the hall earlier, and she was singing to MJ's Man in the Mirror at the top of her voice. Hilarious)

Taken just before heading to the airport, we had breakfast at Twosome place and this guy was completely focused on something.

Clean room. Tick. Washing done. Tick. Drying done. Tick. Rowing outing done. Tick. Just another week.......

This is like several photo lessons rolled into one. First, I've learned to overexpose photos with a lot of white, which fool the camera's light meter. I might have over(under?)done it, though! Plus, I liked the repeating oval shape.

Still not sure it's as compelling a photo as my outtake for today, though.

Welcome to my training routine. For those that have been following this stream for a while, I'm a university rower, with an extremely tempermental car (hence all the cycling). (figured I may as well put these wide 'ole shoulders to some use with rowing!)

At the moment it looks something like this;

Monday - 8am cycle to work (2.1miles), 3.30pm cycle from work to gym (3.1miles), 30minute anaerobic ergo piece, 5pm cycle back to work (3.1miles), 8.30pm cycle home (2.1miles).

Tuesday - 6.30am cycle to weights gym (2.3miles). 1 rep max testing for squats, then 10 sets of 5 reps at 75% weight. cycle home (2.3miles). cycle to work and back (4.2miles)

Wednesday - 6.30am cycle to rowing (2.2miles), average 12km session, cycle to work (4.0miles), 5.4mile run after work, cycle home (2.1miles)

Thursday - cycle to work, then to gym (5.2miles), 2x6km ergo pieces, cycle home (1.8miles)

Friday - Tuesday - 6.30am cycle to weights gym (2.3miles). 1 rep max testing for squats, then 10 sets of 5 reps at 75% weight. cycle home (2.3miles). cycle to work and back (4.2miles)

Saturday - cycle to rowing and back (4.4miles), average 12km water session

Sunday - cycle to rowing and back (4.4miles), average 12km water session

So basically that's around 50.2miles of cycling, 5.4miles of running, 34.3miles of rowing (indoor and water), and 100+ squats. Give or take.

No wonder I'm so bloody tired!

Back in Gumi, nothing to see but industrial complexes (at least where we are staying). Luckily we are leaving for Seoul tomorrow afternoon again. This trip is soon coming to an end, time to go home and celebrate midsummer in a couple of days.

Yoga on the 02 deck of the ship at sunset. 80 miles out to sea. Just don't try and do a headstand. It's a bit rocky out there. Managed to get a couple of yoga sessions in before the seas got a bit too rough for it to be safe.... or at least sensible.

..... bank holiday? Yep, still went to work. Delightful. Although I did watch the coverage on the Beeb when they showed it again in the evening. Loved the dress!

Tonight's dinner was eaten at the local Kaiten-Zushi place here in Gangnam, excellent sushi and top-notch service. This is "our" chefs for the night.

well, a lot has happened in the course of a year. I started this project when I was in Bermuda, on one of my trips there. In total, this project has seen me go to Bermuda, England, Netherlands, England, Morocco, Hawaii, England, Bermuda, England, Bermuda, England, Puerto Rico and then back again to England. All except Morocco were work-related......... it was a very busy year! I suspect this next year is going to be just as busy, if not busier, especially once I start writing up the dreaded thesis. Although for the meantime I am enjoying not having the pressure of having to take a photo every day!

This project has taught me a lot about how to get the best out of my camera (and inadvertantly how NOT to get the best out of my camera!), and has got me more involved in editing (STILL don't have photoshop sadly!). It's been a challenge, and I'm cross that there were 2 missed days, but I'm still pretty pleased that for the majority I remembered and wanted to see it through. It's been a great way of getting regular postings up on Flickr, and a brilliant way to meet and interact with all those people who have been supportive along the way.... you know who you are! :) I wonder what the next year has in store for me?

See the full set here

This friday we headed for a really nice gogi gui place (korean barbecue), It doesn't get much better than grilled beef and vegetables, soju and beer. This followed by to many meeters of microbrews at Castle Praha. Nice evening with good company

Found the "June is for Jumping" group a while ago and have been meaning to do this for ages but keep leaving it too late in the day. Unfortunately the sun had just gone from here, but this was fun anyway :)

My tshirt is an "End of the Line" shirt that reads "There aren't plenty more fish in the sea. Save the bluefin Tuna". Kinda apt considering I'm a marine biologist.......

nom nom nom. Fortunately there is a milk machine here so I can drink as much milk as I like :) it's reconstituted milk most of the time as there's not that much fresh milk on the island, so it tastes a little different from normal milk but I quite like it :)

wasn't sure whether this one or the B & W version was better. I'll try and post it in the comments if I can work out how!
