Pole #35 in 1903, and today.
Undoubtedly the most historic of all the Surf Avenue Trolley Utility Poles, this is the pole that stood outside the elaborate entrance to the original Luna Park throughout its entire existence, from the electrocution of Topsy the Elephant in 1903 to the fire that consumed what was the world's first theme park in 1946. If just one pole on Surf Avenue could be saved, it should be this one.

The A&P Super Foodmart is a good example of how not to put a grocery store on Main Street. It -could- have been built out to the sidewalk to be more convenient for pedestrians. The parking lot -could- have been at the back and side of the building. This is another business that really wants to be in a strip mall, but somehow got set down on Main Street.

A pineapple on the sidewalk is not something you see every day. But when you're a photographer trying to take creative shots for your pregnancy photo journal, you do weird things. I'm sure it was very entertaining for our neighbours!
This week I'm 30 weeks and my baby is around the size of a pineapple :)

35. A Spiral or Swirl
One thing that never fails to fascinate is a new look at the 'ordinary'. Though palm fronds may be unusual to some, they are quite 'ordinary' in our tropical climate. Their extraordinary qualities bring curiosity and wonder and I'm at once mesmerized when behind the lens. Here, the spiral thread of their fan-shaped leaves float freely in the light breeze.
