Underneath Interstate 35 undergoing construction near downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

East German DR Class 35 (originally Class 23.10 pre-1070) 2-6-2 No.35 1097-1 (ex-23 1097) with 2'2'T28 tender on a steam special run in association with the at the Dresden Steam Festival, 9 October 2021. The route was Dresden Hbf. - Kamenz - Hosena/Hohenbocka - Senftenberg and return. It is pictured at the start of its journey at Dresden Hbf. The 113 23.10's built in 1955-59 were based on the pre-war DRG/DRB Class 23. They were fitted with Rekolok 39E high performance, all welded boilers with combustion chambers. The last was withdrawn in 1985. They were excellent mixed traffic locos - the East German equivalent of the LNER 'V2' 2-6-2's in the UK.
