1967 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Custom Series 35400 Model 35439 Holiday Pillarless 4-door Sedan (Fisher body)

The Grade I Listed Wightwick Manor, on Wightwick Road in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.

Wightwick Manor is a Victorian manor house and one of only a few surviving examples of a house built and furnished under the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement. Wightwick was built by Theodore Mander, of the Mander family, who were successful 19th-century industrialists in the area, and his wife Flora, daughter of Henry Nicholas Paint, member of Parliament in Canada. It was designed by Edward Ould of Liverpool in two phases; the first was completed in 1887 and the house was extended with the Great Parlour wing in 1893.

This family house portrays life during the Victorian era and is a notable example of the influence of William Morris, with original Morris wallpapers and fabrics, De Morgan tiles, Kempe glass and Pre-Raphaelite works of art. The house has Victorian gardens and the outbuildings house stables, a handmade pottery shop, studio workshop and an antiquarian bookshop.

The house was presented to the National Trust by Sir Geoffrey Mander under the Country Houses Scheme in 1937. Descendants of the family retain rooms in the manor. The legacy of a family's passion for Victorian art and design, in 1937 Geoffrey Mander MP persuaded the National Trust to accept a house that was just 50 years old. The local paint manufacturer and Liberal MP had been left the timber-framed house by his father Theodore. Taking inspiration from a lecture on "The House Beautiful" by Oscar Wilde, Theodore and his wife Flora had decorated its interiors with the designs of William Morris and his Arts and Crafts contemporaries.

This house of the Aesthetic Movement was, by 1937, a relic of an out of fashion era. Yet, so complete was the design that it was worthy of preservation. Having given the house to the Trust, Geoffrey Mander and his second wife, Rosalie, became its live-in curators, opening the house to the public and adding to its contents. In particular they added a notable collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings by Rossetti, Burne-Jones and their followers.

Solidor Tower is a strengthened keep with three linked towers, located in the estuary of the river Rance in Brittany. It was built between 1369 and 1382 by John V, Duke of Brittany to control access to the Rance at a time when the city of Saint-Malo did not recognize his authority.

As with the previous upload this vehicle too was formerly a BR Mk1 BSK (Brake Second Corridor) numbered 35400. It was a later built example with heavyweight Commonwealth bogies allowing for 100mph running and from lot no.30699 built by BR Wolverton Works in 1962-63 (no's 35294-35400). Just half of this batch were rebuilt with dual heat but 35344 to 35400 were not thus condemning them to early withdrawal as steam heat only stock started to be phased out in the early 1980's. 35400 was thus withdrawn in December 1983. The British Railways Board then allocated it to 'Project Mercury' which was a joint venture between Mercury Communications Ltd (later becoming Vodafone) and British Rail to create a UK fibre optic cable network using BR cable troughing beside railway lines. The British Rail Signal & Telegraph Department were to oversee the project and they soon created a substantial dedicated fleet with departmental vehicles such as this one and a number of different wagon types which received a distinctive pale blue livery. 35400 thus became KDB 977167 in June 1984 and survived into privatisation owned by Railtrack Plc before passing to Balfour Beatty Engineering Ltd numbered BDC 977167. After being taken out of service it remained stored at their Ashford Plant Depot for a number of years before being sold in January 2013 to the East Somerset Railway for spares recovery. It's final move was to Booth's Scrapyard, Rotherham in July 2013 for breaking up.

The view here of it at New Cross Gate Down Yard was while it waited attention at the nearby C&W Works for shunting accident damage repairs as can be seen by the buffer override dent and a coupling hook has bent the corridor door plate.
