Wednesday Mood

Spent most of the day watching arty documentaries and waiting for parcels that didn't come. Saw something like this shot on an advert so though I'd have a go.

I'm lost. Really, really lost.

What’s happening? I am pleased to bring to you day 351 of my already completed but not yet posted 365-day self-portrait project.

You know what I noticed while editing this that was not originally intended? Depp and De Niro on the posters behind me have the exact same body language that I do. In fact, they are both looking down at practically the same angle my head is.

There is something very poignant in a portrait when the person hides their eyes like that. Thinking about it, I tend to do it a lot in my self-portraits, especially when I’m wearing a hat with a brim like a fedora. It’s the perfect piece of apparel to give that enigmatic kind of look.

Someone sent me an email the other day telling me that I seem complicated. Whether that is true or not really depends how you define the word. But what she said next I couldn’t agree with more. And that was that she thought that you would think most people would be complicated, but they aren’t.

And I got to thinking that whole entire statement is entirely true! When it boils down to it, most people I encounter are rather simple.

Which leads me back to the looking down eye thing. I think that look leads to more of a mysterious feel. Essentially, making them seem like they are complicated.

Of course for some reason being labeled as such is sort of a compliment when you’re a man. But I don’t think any women want to be labeled like that. Ladies, whatcha think?

The shot at hand? Me sitting at my kitchen table with 2 movie posters behind me. I am pretending to read a book. Forever whatever reason, there seems to be salt scattered all over the table. I spent 2-3 hours processing this manipulating the colors and messing with the hands, face and other smallish details. Before I was finished, I ended up with almost 20 layers.

Makes me sad. It was a very nice thought and gesture, my son’s friend and mom brought us a little Christmas tree. But I have not planned on having a tree this year because Henry will ruin it. And then while I was gone today they brought it to my son. It is such a nice thought and they meant well. It is real. But we can’t have it. I suggested to my son that we put it on our deck and we can put lights on it and see it through the window. But our deck does not have an outlet. So I don’t know what to do. This is a photo my son took of it and sent to me.

Nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s bustling financial district stands 351 California Street, an emblematic structure that whispers tales of the city’s storied past amidst its ever-evolving skyline. This historic gem, constructed in 1928, boasts a façade that harkens back to an era when craftsmanship and attention to detail were paramount. The building’s Renaissance Revival style is characterized by its intricate terracotta ornamentation and grandiose presence, offering a stark contrast to the sleek modernity of its towering neighbors.

As you approach 351 California Street, you’re greeted by a sense of nostalgia; it’s as if time has stood still for this architectural marvel. The lower levels feature ornate detailing that invites passersby to ponder about the skilled artisans who shaped each piece by hand. With its rich history interwoven into San Francisco’s cultural tapestry, this landmark serves not only as office space but also as a testament to architectural ingenuity from a bygone era.

For those with an appreciation for heritage buildings, 351 California Street is more than just an address—it’s a narrative etched in stone and mortar. It represents resilience, standing proudly against seismic shifts both literal and metaphorical. As part of San Francisco’s historical fabric, this building continues to captivate architects, historians, and tourists alike.

While I was dressed today had some fun trying on some outfits for tomorrow. Wife likes the longer one. My sister has moved out to her own place so she is having a house warming dinner party for a select few and the theme is "Blues Night" so basically you have to come in dressed in blue!
