IC 342 is a challenging cosmic target. Although it is bright, the galaxy sits near the equator of the Milky Way’s galactic disc, where the sky is thick with glowing cosmic gas, bright stars, and dark, obscuring dust. In order for astronomers to see the intricate spiral structure of IC 342, they must gaze through a large amount of material contained within our own galaxy — no mean feat! As a result IC 342 is relatively difficult to spot and image, giving rise to its intriguing nickname: the “Hidden Galaxy”.

The Skylink Derby Leicester is a very popular route in the Wellglade empire, offering buses every 15 minutes between Derby, East Midlands Airport, Loughborough and Leicester with brand new E200MMCs featuring luggage racks and tinted windows. I've not caught one of the newer tinted window examples in Summer, I wonder if they're any cooler than the pre 20 plates which are like ovens??

342 is seen on Siddals Road in Derby having not long set off on the long trek over to Leicester.

The SA 342 Gazelle is a French light helicopter developped during the late 60's and still in use today. It was meant to fulfill various roles including the role of a light attack helicopter. For this occasion it would be equipped with 4 anti-tank HOT missiles (2 on each side) or with a 20mm canon and rockets.

This helicopter was involved in many conflicts during the cold war and after. The version I built is the one used by the French army since the late cold war with its classic 3 tone camouflage. I decided to equip mine with the 4 HOT missiles as its the most famous version.

The rotor can spin and there is enough room for the 2 pilots and for some storage.

Instructions for this model are available on my rebrickable page: rebrickable.com/users/Spartane/mocs

Waterfilm is a series filmed since 2012 based on the idea of filming with a freehand camera for a period of exactly one minute.this series illustrates the meditative qualities of water in an urban environment It is my belief that the close observation of this essential element has the ability to influence our perceptions. Each film is intended to be a short meditation – take your time to feel it, but don’t swim away too far...

When Dexter met Bella.

At first, Dexter had to be told not to be too rough - he's so placid, just very clumsy. But by the end of the evening, Bella was beating him up! Poor Dexter!

The first T which came to hand after my shower was this one and reminded me of an idea I had a while back. I was going to use the washing line in the back garden but my neighbour was in his kitchen and I didn't want him to think I was mental, so the radiator had to do.

I took the image from last week of me jumping in the kiln and placed the figure in a triangle using an app for my phone. I then darkened the surrounding area so just the triangle remained.

I got the camera out and worked on the lighting for the T shirt on tripod 1. Once happy I moved to tripod 2 to expose the triangle element displayed on my phone screen.

I turned out the lights, fired the shutter and let the image burn in for 2 seconds before replacing the lens cap. A quick tripod swap and refocus then took off the lens cap. I got into position after releasing a chuff of vape and fired the flashes.

Single long exposure light art and a muchas gracias mi amigo to Frodo for this cool T shirt.

Day 342 ~ 365 Project

Coastal view from Seaton Sluice.

With the cold weather coming in some of the minifigs are already starting to wrap up warm

Not the most exciting shot in the world but the LED screen came out fully and the sun was good. So in the Saturday sun here we see Lothian Buses most recent LED receiver 342 waiting at the traffic lights on Princes Street West End on a service 19 to Granton.

Chaque jeune étoile bleue, extrêmement chaude, émet de la lumière ultraviolette, ionisant davantage l'hydrogène environnant (cf. NASA / ESA / Hubble / P. Sell, University of Florida / P. Kaaret, University of Iowa / G. Kober, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center / Catholic University of America).
