For the first time in a couple of months, I spent three hours at Ruth Bancroft Garden today. I'm sooo out of practice, and so unsteady on my feet (I'm stiff and ant in a good way) that I was unhappy with two-thirds of the shots. I will have to go back tomorrow and redo most of my attempts. This is not something that you can say, "Oh, I'll go back in three weeks." These flowers may be gone in three weeks. And, I want to try the sun at 10 AM instead of noon.
It would seem that last year's flowers were easier to capture, easier indeed to black out the messy leaves behind the plant or at least the flower. That certainly was true of the Scabiosa, the "pincushions" of Europe.
Scabiosa ochroleuca, commonly called cream pincushions or cream scabious, is a species of scabious with creamy yellow flower heads. It is native to Europe and western Asia. Yesterday's post, I wanted to get a threesome from above, and it worked. But, in order to show the "pincushion" view, I need to get it from the side. I have four more images, and none meet the criterion.
P.S. Know what I hate more than yellow? Chartreuse. Either the camera, I, or both can't seem to get the definition desired with this color.
