MILW #32A leads the Gourmet Express back towards Minneapolis after making its stop in Glencoe, Minnesota. Built in April of 1956 as MILW #202A, the #32A was donated to Friends of the 261 by WSOR in 2019 and was beautifully repainted into orange/maroon to match the rest of the passenger car fleet.

RRHMA's E9A makes its fourth consecutive appearance at Union Depot Train Days, gracing platform one at SPUD.
This is the first time the E9 has faced east, allowing the skyline of St Paul to compliment the scene.
MILW 32A has made 4 appearances to Train Days, the most any locomotive, breaking a tie it had with GN 400 at 3 appearances last year. The tie almost continued, but GN 400 was unable to make the trek from Duluth in time.
Never the less, this is the first time I've shot the 32A in daylight, all previous times were in the dark during a night shoot, which there was not one this year unfortunately, but it worked for the best.
That thing really shines. Managed to get a few shots of the equipment without the hoards of people and the need of photoshop, quite a feat in a popular event, which has now lasted 10 years dating back to 2014.

#32A was built #202A in 1956, one of six EMD E9 A-B-A sets built for service on Milwaukee Road's Chicago-Omaha passenger corridor. As such, it was built to Union Pacific specifications and painted in Armor Yellow. Upon the startup of Amtrak, it was rebuilt in Milwaukee and became AMTK #434. It was retired from the Amtrak roster in 1982 and spent the rest of its career on the Alaska Railroad, Northern Rail Car Leasing, and Wisconsin and Southern before being acquired by the Friends of the 261 organization.

Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261 pulled the "Gourmet Express" from Chanhassen to Sumter, Minnesota, and return on October 2, 2022 over the tracks of the Twin Cities & Western (the original Milwaukee Road main line to the Pacific coast). A stop for lunch was made at Bongards, where 261 also performed two photo runbys. Since there are no turning facilities on the line, Milwaukee Road E9A 32A was used to pull the excursion back to Chanhassen.
The Milwaukee Road 32A lives again! This E9A was built back in 1956, and is now owned by Railroading Heritage of Midwest America & Friends of the 261 . The fresh maroon, orange, and black paint looks stunning in the morning sun. This classic EMD streamliner will be right at home pulling passenger trains with the 261's other equipment.
Video will be up shortly of this beautiful locomotive!

I believe this was taken on 4th October 1982, a few weeks before the official opening of Crown Point depot on the 27th which was situated in the triangle on the site of Wensum Yard outside the station area. I think maintenance had just been transferred there by this date and the buildings here were now disused.
The whole area here has now been long flattened and built on
Union Depot Trains Days came back in 2021 over the weekend of June 5-6. The event was held at St. Paul, Minnesota’s, restored 1923 neoclassical-style depot that was once served by nine different railroads, and featured numerous vendors, displays, and locomotives from area lines. Because it was held during the 77th anniversary of D-Day, the theme of the event was “Keep ‘em Rolling,” a nod to the trains and soldiers of WWII.

The E9 does the honors of pulling the train east. It will soon stop to drop off the passengers for their exquisite meal at Bongards.
