02/01/2010 - Mr Lightman was playing solitaire when I got home from the dentist this evening. Two cavities! He didn't care.

I met Doug during my lunch hour from work, which I sometimes spend in Union Square in San Francisco. I was taking pictures of an art sale in the square with the f/1.8 50mm lens that a friend at work lent me. I shot some sculptures up close, trying to get that good old blurry background, when Doug came up to me and said, "You're not going to use those photos for commercial purposes, are you?" Craig was the sculptor and business owner. He has a BFA from Temple University and has been in business for 30 years. He said he has a retail shop as well as selling in the square a few times a month. He said his wife had been after him to make some posters of the sculptures and sell the posters, so he didn't want someone else (me) doing it. He said recession had been bad for business and Macy's (which fronts on the square) didn't like the art sale because Macy's thought it cut into their business. He went on about how everyone is out for themselves, it's human nature. I said I used to be more optimistic about human nature, but I had come to feel more like him. He said maybe people would attain "Christ consciousness" someday, but that was a long way in the future, at least a few thousand years. I asked him about that phrase, "Christ consciousness," and he said he didn't mean anything religious, just Christ's attitude of giving and sharing.
BTW, notice one of the effects of the f/1.8 50mm lens. This lens enables a very shallow DOF, so the tip of Doug's cap is out of focus.

Homemade Lunch!
Well today marks the 1st of february and yah it was a pretty good day. Started my day off with waking up early and getting ready to head to school, then went to my friends house since we carpool together. Well school went by pretty fast today. I had a art history midterm today and finished that real quick, then had bio lecture which was the usual haha.
After school i wanted to go buy some food but didnt want to spend money so decided to eat at home and right when i got home my mom already made me a sandwich, it was great. Nothing better than home made food that is free! :D

No inspiration at all, my hand hurts, I stayed at home all day bored and tried to take few pictures, but I cannot even change the lens by myself.
Barthamo came to keep me a company, so we were watching a movie together. He was giving me this worried look from time to time. I think even he knows I'm moaning too much.
