The final part of the August Bank Holiday 2009 re-signalling works at Colchester was the running of a test train throughout the re-signalled area. In order to cover as many signalled moves as possible in the time available two test trains were provided. One class 66 was provided by DB Schenker and 66708 was provided by First GBRf and it can be seen here about to depart Colchester station on a run towards Ipswich. 31st August 2009. 66708 was built in May 2002 by General Motors - Electro Motive Division at their factory in London, Ontario, Canada for HSBC Rail (Leasing) and is leased to First GBRf.

31276 & 90137 pass Shirebrook Jct at 13:04, running as 0X60 en route to Worksop for the following day's Open day. This was the last train I signalled there. Not surprisingly this was the only AC loco I ever got to signal during my eleven years signalling trains in the Shirebrook area. It was a bit of a taster for things to come though, for I started at Doncaster PSB two days later!!
Tomorrow, 31st August 2009, would mark the 52nd year that Malaysia have gained their independence.
What have we achieved thus far?
How much have we grown since then?
What are we doing and contributing as an individual to make the country better?
And most importantly, how much have we learned from the past that we have put to good use now?
Questions we should ponder on so that all the blood and sweat of our late generations would not seem to go to waste...
Happy Independence Day Malaysia! =)

20xxx_20096_55015_45133 pass Shirebrook Jct en route to Worksop for the following day's Open day. This was the third from last train I signalled there. 55015 is the only Deltic I got to signal on the area, twice here and also at Elmton & Creswell for the 1987 Open Day! It was also the first one I ever saw, Barrow Hill Open Day 1975!!
The next to last train I signalled at Shirebrook Jct. The only time I had had a class 58 on the line from Langwith Junction!
