In a scene that was repeated twice a day for over 50 years (with a few exceptions), an Amtrak train blasts by the ATSF semaphores protecting the east switch of Chapelle siding in northern New Mexico.
With the loss of freight traffic over Raton and Glorieta Passes, Amtrak is now all there is through here. And that twist was really the secret to the longevity of these nearly century old sentries.
Sadly, the semaphores were removed in November 2022.

Isle of Skye in the rain. The photo's in focus - that's wind and a downpour...
Unfortunately I didn't record the location on the day, and had to just try my best - if anyone out there can actually 'place' this, please do tell me. As it's one of my facvourites, I'd love to be able to 'credit' it accurately.

Former NSB 30a 271 steam locomotive. Built in 1914 and in service until 1968. Part of the Norwegian Museum collection. It is in active service by the Norsk Jernbane Klub (NJK). In 1995 the NJK ran a museum train from Åndalsnes.

My second image from a recent local car meet in Kent. A cool rod pick up. Please do not download, copy, edit, reproduce or publish any of my images in whole or in part. They are my own intellectual property and are not for use without my express written permission.

The area bordered by the Putnok-Ózd-Mályinka triangle is very close to my heart. This was the first region where I planned a multiple-day tour to specifically take pictures of buses, which seemed a bit odd at the time.
Back then in 2019, there were so many active 200 series Ikaruses roaming these fantastic landscapes (compared to now), it was even hard not to miss anything driving around by car. Well, with very small experience and barely any local knowledge I tried to make the best out of it on foot and by public transport.
What saved me was the generous help of Tamás, thanks to whom I did not return home empty-handed after these 4 days, and I can't thank him enough for that!
I'd like to think that my planning and photography skills improved since. At least my local knowledge did, that's for sure. One thing's for sure, I hope to be returning to this wonderful area many more times, even after there won't be any Ikarus buses to chase around here.
