Odeon / Funny Girls Theatre, Blackpool. Opened as the Odeon Cinema in May 1939, designed by W Calder Robson from the Harry Weedon Practice, it was one of the largest original Odeons with 3,044 seats in stalls and balcony levels. Tripled in October 1975, retaining the 'feel' of the original in the large balcony screen, using the original screen opening. Closed in December 1998 when the Odeon Multiplex in Rigby Road opened - this closed in 2023) Converted in the Funny Girls Theatre in the front stalls area, with a new balcony which opened in April 2002, together with a restaurant in rear stalls. Pub and nightclub use in the remainder of the building, entered from a new side extension in Queen Street. Grade 2 listed.
