Vehicle History
SC1848 is a Mark I Open Second with Miniature Buffet (RMB) built in 1960 at Wolverton to lot 30507. This vehicle is basically an Open Second with three full window spaces removed to accommodate a buffet counter and four seats removed to accommodate a stock cupboard. Originally built with vacuum brakes and steam heating it has gained dual brakes, dual heating and Commonwealth bogies at some stage.

First South Yorkshire 30507 is approaching Doncaster South Bus Station. It is a Dennis Dominator DDA1011 with Gardner 6LXCT engine and Alexander RH bodywork, new in 1986 as South Yorkshire Transport 'Fastline' 2480.

Por este motivo, los trenes regionales del servicio R15 (con un horario provisional) son desviados por las líneas de vía única entre Sant Vicenç de Calders y La Plana-Picamoixons y entre esta y Reus, lo que, en algunos casos, obliga a invertir el sentido de marcha una o dos veces.
Al ser desviados también por este tramo los trenes de mercancías que se dirigen o proceden del área de Barcelona o de la línea de Portbou, el tráfico en esta sección normalmente tranquila ha aumentado considerablemente.
La habitual inoperancia de Adif y de alguna de las empresas ferroviarias (básicamente una, la de siempre), convierten la difícil gestión de tanto tráfico en este tramo de vía única en un auténtico desastre.
Aquí vemos el desviado tren regional 30507 de la línea R15, de Barcelona Estació de França a Reus y Tarragona. Está formado por las veteranas UT eléctricas con los coches motores 470 023 y 470 070 (ex 175), fabricados en 1974 y 1981, respectivamente. Por tanto, el primero cumple este año los 50 de edad.

Renfe Viajeros S.A. (Renfe Operadora group): between 1 October 2024 and 2 March 2025, the section between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Tarragona is closed to rail traffic due to works in the Roda de Berà tunnel and adaptation to the third rail. For this reason, regional trains of the R15 service (with a provisional timetable) are diverted along the single-track lines between Sant Vicenç de Calders and La Plana-Picamoixons and between this and Reus, which, in some cases, forces the direction of travel to be reversed once or twice.
As freight trains heading to or coming from the Barcelona area or the Portbou line are also diverted along this section, traffic on this normally quiet section has increased considerably.
The usual ineffectiveness of Adif and some of the railway companies (basically one, the usual one), turns the difficult management of so much traffic on this single-track section into a real disaster.
Here we see the diverted regional train 30507 of the R15 line, from Barcelona Estació de França to Reus and Tarragona. It consists of veteran EMUs with motor cars 470 023 and 470 070 (the old 175), build in 1974 and 1981, respectively. The first one therefore turns 50 years old this year.

Amongst the locomotives and rolling stock that came to a sticky end there was Southern Railway Urie S15 class 4-6-0 30507. It is surrounded by London Transport pre '36 (also referred to as pre '38) tube stock.
Although 30507 might have been turned into razor blades, sister loco 30506 fared rather better and went to Woodham's yard at Barry in South Wales and survived into preservation. It now lives on the Mid-Hants Railway in Hampshire.

Seen still wearing some of the stars from its time branded as a Wessex Star vehicle is one of Redditch's Plaxton Centros. It is seen waiting time before continuing onwards to Bidford-on-Avon and Evesham.
Diamond's BX58 AON (30507) is seen waiting time opposite the Alcester Police Station with a 247 to Evesham. The 247 operates up to every hour between Redditch and Evesham Bus Stations. Around the school times, the frequency drops, with certain journeys calling in at local schools. BX58AON was new in October 2008 to the Rotala PLC's Black Diamond operation, as their 817, before moving away soon after to Wessex Connect, for use on the Ulink network. Years later, it gained Wessex Star branding. However, since the photo was taken, the Wessex operation has closed, and with the closure of the Wessex operation, it moved up to Diamond West Midlands' Redditch depot. It is a Volvo B7RLE/Plaxton Centro.

This Volvo B7RLE/Plaxton Centro is seen in the Long Acre depot after what seems like a new repaint and to be branded for Wessex Star.
Wessex's BX58 AON (30507) is seen moving onto layover at Southmead Hospital, having operated an 11A from Avonmouth, Mclaren Road. The 11 and 11A operate between Avonmouth and Southmead, up to every 30 minutes. BX58AON was new in October 2008 to the Rotala PLC's Black Diamond operation, as their 817, before moving away soon after to Wessex Connect, for use on the Ulink network. Years later, it gained Wessex Star branding. However, since the photo was taken, the Wessex operation has closed, and this Volvo has been transferred to Diamond Bus' Redditch depot. First South Yorkshire 30507 is a long-wheelbase Dennis Dominator with Gardner 6LXCT engine and Alexander RH bodywork fitted with coach seats. It was new in 1986 as South Yorkshire Transport 2480, in Fastline livery.
One of a number of Wessex Liveried B7RLE's running round the Midlands at the moment is 30507, BX58AON, pictured on the since lost 82 service between Solihull and Coventry.
Another Wessex Star bus that was certainly not doing what it said on the side at the weekend was fleet number 30507. This Volvo B7RLE with boxy Plaxton Centro bodywork had made the journey from Somerset to London for the weekend to run a replacement service for South West Trains. It is seen here arriving at Clapham Junction about to pick up for a service to Hampton Court.

5 of these Volvo Centros have recently transferred to Redditch depot from Wessex, after Rotala pulled out of Bristol. All but 30507 are in service at the time of writing and are in unbranded Wessex livery with Diamond logos but still look fairly smart. These have resulted in newer Streetlites 30160/1/4 being withdrawn but they were rather powerless so these are welcome additions. Here is 30504 departing Redditch with a 58 Circular
30505, 30502 and 30507 are seen being prepared for further service in Bristol, at the Rotala Garage Birmingham. These are Plaxton bodied Volvo B7RLE's.
My final required Wessex Centro at Redditch (Kidderminster have at least 3 recent transfers) , 30507 is seen at Hopwood, Worcestershire on the hourly link between Birmingham and Redditch. Originally new to Black Diamond for use on the 404 before transferring to Wessex. Strangely some were numbered as 305s, not having 30000 added to the original 8xx numbers, hence a gap between 30816-21, although some acquired Wright Eclipses have taken some of the original gap 30813-5. Wessex was closed down earlier in 2018, the final allocation comprising of Enviro 200s, Optare Solos, Volvo B7RLEs, DAF DB250s and a few Volvo B9TLs. 30501/2/4/7/812 are now based at Redditch and see use on most of their routes, including the Stratford locals, Solihull Signature locals, Coventry services and on longer distance routes 146 and 247 radiating to the Northern and Southern most extremeties of the depots routes. 30507 pictured above still retains some Wessex stars but has minimal, Diamond logos, only 30812 seems to have been fully decked out.

Dublin Bus, (Harristown Garage), AX507, Volvo B7LDD, Alexander Dennis, ALX400, (06-D-30507), was photographed on North Wall Quay, Dublin while operating the 07:20 departure of Xpresso route 33D from Portrane to St. Stephen's Green on 21 April 2017.
The Xpresso route 33D is a Monday to Friday service only with 1 departure from Portrane to St. Stephen's Green at 07:20 and an evening departure from Custom House Quay to Portrane at 17:45.
AX507 was one of a batch of 200 brand new ALX400, Volvo B7LDD double deckers delivered to Dublin Bus in 2006, (AX449 to AX648) which followed on from the 448 AVs delivered between 2000 and 2005, (AV1 to AV448) built in the Alexander Dennis factories in Mallusk, N.Ireland and Falkirk, Scotland.

This was new to Diamond Bus and was then transferred to Wessex Connect fro services around Bristol before ending up back in the Midlands.
I'm so used to reading every day about badgers and culling that it's almost become an abstract thing but just STOP and think for a second, nearly 2000 of this country's best loved and innocent animals, our flagship species for legal protection, will be slaughtered inhumanely over the coming months. If the tories retain power next year they will roll out this madness across the country, even if you don't live in the south west it will come to your doorsteps, incompetent armed killers roaming OUR countryside at night across the country.
Encountering the little cub in the picture on the League Against Cruel Sports link ( below ) was the most magical wildlife experience I've ever had, but seeing it now just has me in floods of tears. PLEASE do something ( anything ) to help our badgers, joining the LACS or Badger Trust would be fantastic but just liking and sharing badger related stuff on Facebook helps. The Stop The Cull organisation also needs donations and brave people to stand up to the cowardly killers that will soon start butchering our badgers.

The Washington DC region's only "bus rapid transit" line Metroway connects Alexandria to Arlington's Crystal City neighbourhood. It includes a dedicated lane from about the Potomac station to Crystal City.
Metroway opened in two phases, with the last section of dedicated lanes in Crystal City opening this past April.
Hopefully this will be a model for future BRT and streetcar expansions in the DC area.
