Sunrise over Faro town taken from the Ilha de Faro. Used a CP filter and ND8 filter to slow everything down particularly the ebbing tide. This was the best of the light that lasted only a few minutes.
GP40 leads a manifest at Park Junction in 1987. The squiggly track to the left is what Amtrak negotiated each day. They changed the track but even so, now Amtrak mostly comes down the Midway sub.
One of the first and most common dragonflies at this location is the Common Whitetail. I started the season on May 28 with one, and it's appropriate that I end it that was as well. The problem was that this year, they disappeared by the end of June and we never got to see their aging processes in which the white tail turns powdery blue and then gray. It's a stout and aggressive hawker, and defends its territory with fervor. "It" also seems to like this branch (actually a twig): six of eight images are on this branch and the same ratio carried through since 2010!
