I finally got one of these astrostar lights. I ordered it, and had to assemble everything myself. And I mean everything.. even the wiring and battery holders.
Also, last night was one of the most horrible nights of my life!
My hamster, that I love more than any normal person cares for a hamster, escaped. We searched the entire building for hours and hours, and there was no sign of her. Only slept about 3 hours, after finally giving up.
Around 5pm today, the sub woofer of the speakers suddenly stopped working. We shook it around and heard hamster food inside! 3 of us worked on disassembling the speaker, and THERE SHE WAS! INSIDE THE SUB WOOFER =D =D =D

With most of the Glasgow based 303's having been altered during refurbishment, one of the Manchester based units 303048 was chosen to be the "pet" 303 unit and was restored externally to as near as possible to original condition (not fully possible due to the wrap round windows being replaced).
"048" is seen at Cambridge whilst being used at the open day and Gala at the town on the weekend of 14th September 1991 alongside a class 312 and 317 unit in the stabling sidings. This is not the furthest south this unit got as it also appeared in Brighton Open day! Gala's and Open Days were a feature of the railway at the time in an attempt to engage with the general public.
