Deutsch Französischer Tag am Eurocampus Manila
Der 22. Januar ist ein wichtiger Tag für den Eurocampus Manila. An diesem Tag feiern die Deutsche Europäische Schule Manila (DESM) und das Lycée Francaişe de Manille (LFM) den deutsch-französischen Tag. Im Jahr 2003 hatten der damalige französische Präsident Jaques Chirac und der damalige deutsche Bundeskanzler Gerhard Schröder den 22. Januar, an dem vor 51 Jahren der Elysée Vertrag unterzeichnet worden ist, zu einem besonderen Tag für deutsch-französische Begegnungsinitiativen für junge Menschen erklärt.
Nichts leichter als das – auf dem Eurocampus in Manila, der im letzten Jahr sein 50-jähriges Bestehen gefeiert hatte.
In diesem Jahr planten die beiden Schulen etwas ganz Besonderes: ein deutsch- französisches Fußballspiel!
Nach der Feierstunde in der Aula der Schule ging es hinaus auf den Fußballplatz. Der französische Botschafter, Herr Gilles Garachon und der stellvertretende Leiter der deutschen Botschaft, Herr Michael Hasper ließen es sich nicht nehmen, den Anstoß auszuführen.
In gemischten Mannschaften spielten Schüler, Lehrer und Repräsentanten der beiden Botschaften in einem leidenschaftlichen Spiel gegeneinander. Den Entscheidungstreffer schoss Herr Michael Fuchs, deutscher Kulturattaché.
Als Schiedsrichter im Spiel konnte Herr Thomas Roy vom deutschen Fußballbund gewonnen werden, der auf den Philippinen für ein Jugendtrainingsprogramm tätig ist.
Nach dem Spiel erfrischten sich Gäste und Spieler am Buffet. Ein schöne Initiative, die allen viel Spaß gemacht hat. Im nächsten Jahr wird wieder um den Wanderpokal gekämpft werden müssen!
Treaty of Élysée: A Day of Enduring Franco-German Friendship
The 22nd of January is an important day at the Euro Campus. It is on this day that the German European School Manila (GESM) and the Lycée Français de Manille (LFM) celebrate what is now called the German-French Day as declared in 2003 by then French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. This day is devoted to initiatives that bring young people from both countries closer to each other.
The German-French day aims to further educate students and allow them to celebrate the richness of their heritage and their country’s cultures. It is also very important for them to be reminded how essential peace in Europe and peace in the whole world is.
“The French and German educational systems maintain each other as language partners, with a conscious effort to sustain exchange programmes that allow opportunities of study and employment in the partner country. No set up more ideal for this than at our school,” enthuses Mrs. Astrid Martinez-Lopez, head of school for GESM.
To celebrate this day, students from both schools presented the Elysée Treaty via speeches in three languages. No less than the French Ambassador, HE Mr. Gilles Garachon and the German Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Michael Hasper were in attendance.
Culminating the event is a friendly football match between teams made up of students and teachers from the German and French schools as well as embassy officials. Coach Thomas Roy, who is tasked by the Philippine Football Federation to grow the grassroots programme in the country, officiated the match.
