Thanks for Viewing.

I took this one just as I'm packing up, after shooting 30 previous frames. Guess which I liked the best?

Technical notes: Tonemapped 3xp at 8 sec f14 +/- 2 steps. Then some layer blending to clean up the foreground, selective saturation and curve adjustments.

I started out Arachtober with this fellow, now I shall end with him. Hopefully next year I'll have more, and more of a variety, to post. This assumes that I'll still be physically able to take photos . . .

Happy Arachtober 30!

Thanks for Viewing.

One train in my area I had yet to shoot was the ASRY's typical weekday early morning job to Ashland. I set out for Mansfield to catch their usual departure at dawn, only to find that the crew didn't even get on the train until 8:30. Thanks to Wak and DB for keeping tabs, after heading west to find an NS train I was able to loop back to Mansfield to catch them a couple miles out of town headed up the old Erie main.

The 31 seems to have the best paint job of the fleet, still holding up strong while most of the other geeps on the roster have already begun peeling after just a couple years. And this may be one of the toughest shots I've ever tried to level... everything in this scene is leaning one way or another.

Even though I feel like summer lasted all of two weeks, I do love fall. The colors! The sports! Halloween! No better time of year.

One of the more entertaining window displays I have seen thanking our health care and front line workers. And no one deserves a bigger thank you. For the past 10 months these people have put their own lives on hold and at risk to help get us through this pandemic. It is well past time that we return the favour by buckling down, follow the guidelines and get this monster under control so these workers can not only get back to their lives but also get the much needed rest they so deserve.

Thanks for watching

I was mistaken yesterday, it's been over a week of rain.

Green is springing up in places that are always yellowey-brown.

Weeds are twisting their way through the cracks of concrete, and choking the flowers.

Nature is going wild, at least in my yard.

There is something so beautiful, yet frightening about nature taking it's course, even in such little ways.

I wanted this picture to show how small we really are in nature.

Storm clouds are looming overhead, the wind is blowing, and weeds are taller than me.

A lot of times rain puts people into a depression, but for me, it makes me think.

Black.

For Flickr Group Roulette, the theme was 'Gettin freaky with the geeky.'

Here is the description given hah.

"So get to it peeps. Get in bed with a geek, get in bed with your Mac, wear something completely geeky to bed - or whatever you want - as long as you are:

'Gettin Freaky with the Geeky'"

So here is my interpretation.

Grammar book -- Hella geek.

Taped glasses -- Stereotype geek to the max.

Art History book & Dictionary -- Geek!

Quilt --GEEK (hah I made it when I was like 12.)

My Roy Lichtenstein-esque pjs -- Pretty geeky.

Headband -- Again, pretty geeky.

Funny thing is .. that all this stuff was readily available in my room. Ahh oh no!! I'm a geeeeek.

:)

Ahh but I'm excited, first picture taken with my new XTi. And tomorrow's my birthdayyy. Oh so I took this picture at midnight, so my birthday is still tomorrow .. the 2nd. But thank you all for the birthday wishesss!

Still under the watchful eye, the marvel of metal and grey continues. One of the principal reasons why I return to this building apart from the masterful design is that they let me have a full run at it - I get thrown out of nearly all other buildings in LA, all security guards and authorities claiming 911 status - I cannot claim 911 status when they are rude to me, stalk me and stand so close I can smell their stinking breath.

Thank you to Gehry, and the Concert Hall authorities for TRULY giving this building to the people -

to myself

Angie, Angie, when will those clouds all disappear?

Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here?

With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats

You can't say we're satisfied

But Angie, Angie, you can't say we never tried

Angie, you're beautiful, but ain't it time we said good-bye?

Angie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried?

All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke

Let me whisper in your ear:

Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here?

Oh, Angie, don't you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet

I hate that sadness in your eyes

But Angie, Angie, ain't it time we said good-bye?

With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats

You can't say we're satisfied

But Angie, I still love you, baby

Ev'rywhere I look I see your eyes

There ain't a woman that comes close to you

Come on Baby, dry your eyes

But Angie, Angie, ain't it good to be alive?

Angie, Angie, they can't say we never tried

A day late, but happy birthday to the machines that I work off of and work for. If it weren't for the Mac, I can actually say that my life wouldn't be the same. Here's to another 30. Thanks for looking!

With its (up to) 9X EV bracketing, the D300 makes it easy to do an HDR image. This is my first attempt at a multiple exposure tone map, all my other HDR's up to date have been from a single RAW or jpeg. Yeah, I know, nothing new here with the Dream Lights and Partners, but I don't think I've seen it done in HDR yet. And part of the reason I wanted to do this in HDR is that it's nearly impossible to get this exposure this way with a single file. In fact, it probably is impossible, save some SERIOUS post processing work. So there you have it, Cinderella Castle Dream Lights - 2008, in high dynamic range.

I-25 & Speer Blvd.

Denver, Colorado.

Arriving at Westbury on the 13:30 Whatley Quarry to Dagenham Dock ARC, the driver draws to a halt around 14:07 to allow for a driver change before the train heads off with its 4400T load at 14:15. Sadly I didn't have enough time to catch the train leaving from the road bridge, but I'm pleased I managed to get a freight moving through the station and to have captured (reported on TOPS) 70807 visible at the front and 70801 and 70809, plus what is believed to be 59206 on the left. 60054 was performing the yards super shunter duties. Is it really more economic to have a type 5 locomotive as a yard pilot ? Its understandable the train loco performing shunting duties, but not a dedicated mainline shunter.

TOPs in the morning had reported 59206 on the 6O35 05:00 Westbury Down TC to Fareham ARC sidings arriving at 07:20. The return working the 11:47 to Whatley Quarry is shown to have sat at Westbury Down TC between 13:40 and 15:01 coinciding with our visit at 14:30. Thanks to the gent on the platform for identifying the working,

Present Day

GCPD Building

Stacy: “You know this would be done a lot quicker if you would stop fidgeting.”

Gordon is in his office with papers spread out on his desk. Stacy is helping him tie a bowtie.

Stacy: “There, see that wasn't so hard was it Gordon.”

Gordon goes over and looks in the mirror, seeing the black bowtie on his white collar.

Gordon: “Looks really good, thanks Stacy. I know it must be boring to teach an old man how to do something so simple.”

Stacy: “Well is was more entertaining than sitting in desk taking calls.”

Gordon chuckles as she starts to leave Gordons office.

Gordon: “Thanks Again!”

Stacy: “Anytime.”

Gordon slowly walks over to his window and looks. He sees the snow falling from the sky onto the moldy gray buildings, the smoke filling the sky, and the dreariness of the atmosphere. Gordon steps away from the window and goes out the door of his office.

Bullock: “Hey Lieutenant, we have a homicide in the south side of Gotham. Need your permission to-”

Gordon: “Not now Bullock, go ask Loeb.”

Bullock: “Cmon you know how I feel about that dirty ass-”

Gordon: “Not my problem.”

Gordon walks to the door

Loeb: “Gordon!”

Gordon stops at the door and curses under his breath as he turns around

Gordon: “Yes Commissioner Loeb.”

Loeb: “Look I know you need to go to the ceremony, but I need some documents for you to fill out.”

Loeb hands them to Gordon.

Gordon: “Who are they from?”

Loeb: “Branden and the swat team.”

Gordon: “(sigh) Let me guess, another compliant on how he never gets to blow enough shit up.”

Loeb: “Don’t know, don’t care. Thanks Gordon.”

He runs back to his office, leaving Gordon thinking about what he should do.

Gordon: “I guess I have to tell Hill I’ll be late.”

Gordon walks back to the office and picks up the phone, and calls Mayor Hill.

Gordon: “Hello...yeah hi Hill, I’ll will be running late for the ceremony…Yes I know this is a very special award just...It wont be long...just around an 1 hour...I have have some paperwork to fill out...7:30...thanks I know...understood...goodbye.”

Gordon looks at the clock, it reads 6:00. He lays back in his chair, feeling tired and exhausted. His recent promotion to commissioner has given him more stress, and paperwork that he can take.

Gordon: “Well these damn papers won't write themselves.”

He picked up his pencil and started to work on his papers…

1 Hour Later…

Burke: “Hey Gordon. Gordon wake up!”

Gordon opened his eyes and saw detective Burke standing in front of his office door.

Burke: “How was the award ceremony?”

He looks up at Burke in confusion.

Gordon: “What cerem-”

He looks at his watch, it read 7:00.

Gordon: “Shit.”

He jumps out of his seat and grabs his coat.

Burke: “What’s the matter, did you miss something?”

Gordon outs on his coat and grabs his hat.

Gordon: “Not yet, but in 30 minutes I will.”

He runs out the door of his office in a sprint, leaving the door wide open. Burke sighs.

Burke: “You know for guy that literally sits on his ass all day, the least he can do is close the damn door.”

He walks out of the office and shuts the door.
