It is a perennial shrub or tree, very popular in tropical landscaping, which has a woody, erect, branched and thorny stem.

The inflorescences are composed of red, orange-red, pinkish-red or yellow flowers, depending on the variety, all characterized by long stamens. Flowering occurs in spring and summer.

The fruits are of the vegetable type and appear in Autumn.

It should be grown in full sun or partial shade, but is tolerant of light cold, in subtropical or Mediterranean climates, becoming deciduous (loses its leaves in Winter). It is multiplied by seeds.

Some peoples use the plant as a medicinal plant, with anti-inflammatory properties, but care must be taken as it is a toxic plant, including abortifacient.

Instead of going south like usual on Saturdays, the 561 crew on March 6th, 2021, made the opposite run north form Brewster to Akron in the late morning. They would meet 551 at "the highstand" in Gambrinus to drop off the majority of their cars before continuing north.

When the blooming is completed, begins the development of the fruits (capsules) which in 4-5 months ripen and reach a diameter of 3-6 cm, ovoid, of greenish or green-yellowish colour, with a sparse cover of spines less thin and spiny than those of the “cupule” of the true chestnuts; each one of these, dehiscent by three (rarely two) valves: they contain one to three (4) seeds known as “conkers”, glossy, of ferrugineous brown colour when ripe with big white or greyish hilum; oval-depressed shaped if isolated or semi-oval with one or two flattened sides if by two or three-four in the fruit.

(Sapindaceae)

Geschichte:

Wikipedia

18 478

History:

Number 18 478, was the last S 3/6 to be built in the state railway era (1918) and thus the last one also with a streamlined driver's cab aka Windschneidenführerhaus.

Today this engine is in the ownership of the Bavarian Railway Museum (Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum) in Nördlingen. The locomotive was made operational again by the Meiningen Steam Locomotive Works (Dampflokwerk Meiningen)

In order to be used on future services, considerable work was necessary on the old locomotive, which still has its original boiler. The engine had a second roll out in June 2010 and is again certified for passenger trains. Wikipedia

Cytisus scoparius , the common broom or Scotch broom, is a deciduous leguminous shrub native to western and central Europe. In Great Britain and Ireland, the standard name is broom; this name is also used for other members of the Genisteae tribe, such as French broom or Spanish broom; and the term common broom is sometimes used for clarification. In other English-speaking countries, the most common name is "Scotch broom" (or Scots broom); however, it is known as English broom in Australia.

Angkor Wat ("Capital Temple") is a temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world measuring 162.6 hectares. It was originally constructed in early 12th century by King Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire and gradually transforming into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia (national flag) and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.

Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple-mountain and the later galleried temple. It is designed to represent Mount Meru. Within the moat is the outer wall 3.6 kilometers long and there are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the center of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas (deity) adorning its walls.
