A demonstration of how an old-time musket works held in 1979 in Old Jamestown, I think. I took this shot while visiting Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas on a Senior Class trip.
(2007) The Concealed Handgun License is essentially a "2nd Amendment activation card". Texas is a "shall issue" state, meaning that if Texas DPS cannot find a reason to deny you a CHL, it must grant you one on request, upon paying the required fee, and providing fingerprints and proof of firearms competency to a licensed instructor and passing a written test on the relevant statutes pertaining to CHL. In Texas the whole process takes roughly 60 days from date of receipt of the completed CHL application to DPS HQ in Austin, TX.
"Some Rights Are Absolute!" and "MLG Free Zone" messages on LED sign belonging to a gun shop in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, shortly after NM Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham ("MLG") issued an executive Public Health Order rescinding civilian gun carry rights in this one New Mexico county, which includes the state's largest city, Albuquerque.
Upon refusal on constitutional grounds (violation of 2nd Amendment) of City and County law enforcement & the State Attorney General to enforce or defend the PHO, plus swift filing of a pack of anti-gun-ban lawsuits, the PHO was blocked by a U.S. District Court Temporary Restraining Order, which "MLG" has vowed to oppose (conspicuously without her AG, a fellow Democrat) at an 10/03/23 Federal Hearing.
On 10/11/23 the Judge on the case declined to further block the (now-amended) PHO, which at least one of the 12 Plaintiffs has appealed to the 10th Circuit Court.

Washington DC, March 24, 2018. A massive crowd here for the March for Our Lives Protest against the NRA and the absence of common sense gun laws in our country. The demonstration was sparked by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where 17 people were killed on Valentines Day by a shooter with an assault rifle.

I captured these images when the dragonflies landed on the tops of some pieces of steel rebar that stick way up from a partially demolished hot tub.
These were shot in full daylight. I darkened the background by stopping down to F/16 or so at 1/500th, and used an on-camera TTL hotshoe flash to light the subject.
I got as close to the subjects as I could. The lens was a cheap 70-300mm zoom. It's closest focusing distance is quite far, so these images were heavily cropped from a six megapixel RAW, despite being shot at 450mm equivalent focal length.
