White-tailed Deer

At first I thought someone had planted two very realistic young buck statues in their yard.

I'd been photographing shore birds in Charlestown, RI and luckily had my camera by my side. Brakes on, traffic stops, click, exhale, and a moment of thanks before the joyful ride home after having seen these two beauties. :)

Just a little playing around ... these two bucks practice their jostling with each other in the fall at Rocky Mountain National Park. It was fascinating to see them undergo this ritual and we even got to see a more mature buck teaching a young buck.

Happy Thursday everyone! Where does the week go? LOL. Thanks for stopping by to view.

I suspect the pen names of the artists are doing double duty as graffiti images on these old buildings in Louisville— e.g. NV Rouke, TDUD, NV Crew, and I recognize 2Bucks' name. RIP 2Bucks.

She's adorable! Love the eye chips and these tiny baby lashes I had spotted at Walmart for $2bucks! Mary cleaned her up really nice and even made the extra effort to sand the raw, bad edges of the faceplates!

I think most litter is fast-food related, but smoker's trash must run a close second -

www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/4223106/McDonalds-was...

Keep Britain Tidy looked at litter in 10 cities over two days in the first attempt to discover which brand names were most commonly discarded.

Fast food litter was second to cigarette ends in littering the country’s streets and 29 per cent of that was from McDonald’s restaurants. . .

The amount of rubbish dropped in Britain has risen by 500 per cent since the 1960s, with fast food waste the most common problem after smoking-related litter.

Why people litter:

- People are too lazy to dispose of trash properly

- People are more likely to throw litter on top of litter than drop litter in neat surroundings

- Don't Care

- Others will pick it up

- Not aware they are littering

Smokers and littering:

- Many smokers do not believe that littering their cigarette butts has an environmental impact or is inappropriate behavior.

- Many smokers blame their littering behavior on a lack of well-placed bins for cigarette butts.

- Over 80% of smokers said they would bin their butts if suitable bins were available.

- Over half of smokers said they would change their behavior if they were more aware of the issues and their potential environmental impact.

Littered cigarette filters contain toxic chemicals that leak into the air and water.

A poll conducted in 1998 of male and female Texans > 16 years old revealed the following predictors of littering in order of importance:

Age: 16-24 (now people age 16-24 are the target in Texas and nationwide)

Smokes

Eats fast food at least 2 nights/week.

Goes out for nighttime entertainment at least 1/week.

Drives >50 miles/day.

Never been married

Neither gender nor ethnicity were factors increasing likelihood of littering.

Caring enough to not litter seems to be driven by:

Knowledge and awareness

How much they care about the environment

Positive self-image

Attitudes to life (i.e. happy and content)

Sense of community and an empathy with the needs of others

Ease of disposal

Context they are in (16-24 year olds tend to litter more while in groups, but those older litter less in groups and more when alone)

Type of litter

If they can get away with it (either in terms of being observed or fined)

If your a menthol cigarette smoker and want to quit smoking for some crazy reason, then smoke these. They taste so bad youll want to quit

Well overall this is a pretty nasty cigarette, however even with the taste being sub par and it making your throat feel like glass, it's ok for less than 2bucks a pack. Plus this will give you one of the biggest buzz youve ever had. I give them however, one star for being made in china (if I remember correctly)

A little bit of PS art on this one. But the original: these four deer were photographed in my side yard on this day (Oct 18, 2022). The deer allowed me to take their group profile portrait before wandering off.

This was taken in the evening-September 2019 They are standing in a Canola field that is ready to harvest.

Interesting thing: you can actually use the burner to make charcoal very cheaply, then use that to melt metal, too, in conjunction with forced air.

Basically, you can run it quickly and cheaply off propane, or maybe 3-4X slower, but ridiculously cheaply, off of wood.

My deepest apologies for once again changing my screen name. I had no idea it would even be noticed... I do believe I'm leaving it as is. I am, after all, simply Kari. You can expect the icon to change randomly though.

Tomorrow I'm working the early shift again, then the hubbs and I are getting away!!!! Only for a couple of days, but it's much overdue. It's supposed to rain the whole time but I'm learning to love some things about shooting in the rain.

So, I had way too much to do today to try to hone my DSLR skills... iPhone to the rescue.

mmm i've just got back from drivin all day.. i really like driving-days but i hate people being crazy (which there were a lot of..)..

There's a woman who owns this house and sells clothes and stuff for $2. Dev got a pleather jacket...I, however, got 3 things for free. The woman (named Pandora) had me pick out whatever clothing i wanted for free. I didn't find anything i loved, but picked out a purple tiger print tank. then she went on to give me a brass bunny and a print of some collage she did. Oh, and Dev paid her $20 for a really awesome piece of art she did.

I've seen 4 deer(2bucks,2 does), a woodchuck and a Great Horned Owl right here, the last few times I played the back 9.

This is why I take the XTi golfing.

as you can see by what Cliff is holding, a lot of my lighting is supplied by the always reliable Home Depot...those spot lights with clamps are 2bucks each...the colored bulbs are very inexpensive and can create some great effects!!! for this shoot, I bought $20 worth of lights and they worked beautifully!!! I like to experiment and see what unfolds!!!
