Das Museum Berggruen (auch bekannt als Sammlung Berggruen) im Berliner Ortsteil Charlottenburg gilt als eine der weltweit bedeutendsten Sammlungen der Kunst der klassischen Moderne, die der Sammler und Kunsthändler Heinz Berggruen in einer „Geste der Versöhnung“ seiner Heimatstadt Berlin zu einem Preis weit unter Wert verkaufte. Vor allem Werke von Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Georges Braque, Paul Klee und Henri Matisse sind hier unter einem Dach vereint. Die Sammlung Berggruen gehört zur Berliner Nationalgalerie.
Im Jahr 2019 verzeichnete das Haus rund 74.000 Besucher.

I saw these birds through the kitchen window while I baked a cake for New Year's Eve. Couldn't resist, I took my camera and went out into the yard, took the pictures, and when I got back I found an almost burned cake in the oven. Of course I made a new cake and didn't look out the window anymore until I finished the cake.

臼杵石仏 - Usuki Stone buddhas
The Usuki Stone Buddhas are a set of beautiful statues carved from hardened volcanic ash. In June 1995, 59 statues were designated as a national treasure, becoming the first stone Buddhas nation-wide and the first Kyushu sculptures to receive this distinction. Such masterpieces do not exist in such beauty and number elsewhere.
From 1980 -1994, there were repairs to preserve these valuable pieces of cultural heritage. It is believed that they were created in the Heian (794-1185) and Kamakura (1185-1333) periods, however it is unknow who made them or for what purpose. Much remains a mystery.
They are spread into four clusters
- Jizo jyu ou zou and Nyorai san son zou (1nd cluster)
- Kubon no midazou and Amida san son zou (2st cluster)
- San no san sekibutsu (3rd cluster)
- Furuzono sekibutsu (4th cluster).
This picture is Jizo Bosatsu's ancient-style stance, surrounded by the 10 Kings (picture are 9) who judge the sins of and save those in the realm of the dead, sculpted Kamakura period.

Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, PA., in February 1910, this locomotive is a ‘Prairie’ type weighing over 90 tons in working trim and delivering about 22,000 lbs of tractive effort with a boiler pressure of 185 lbs. The cylinders are 16” x 24” and the engine is equipped with Stephenson valve gear. The ‘ST’ denotes the unique Saddle Tank design for the water tank over the boiler.

0-4-2ST No 3 'Sir Haydn' crosses the impressive viaduct on its approach to Dolgoch station with a Tywyn - Nant Gwernol passenger service.
The viaduct was built in 1866 and is some 15m (56') above the Nant Dolgoch. This brick built structure is the largest engineering structure on the line and is Grade II listed.

When I visited the long closed 2ft 3in gauge Corris Railway near Machynlleth in Mid-Wales sometime in the 1960s, I certainly didn’t expect that many years into the future it would be possible to see trains running again. And certainly not with a replica of the original Kerr Stuart 0-4-2ST which is now running on the nearby Talyllyn Railway and named EDWARD THOMAS.
In fact any suggestion that this might happen would have been met with a reference to flying pigs! But it has happened, so chocks away, piggies…
This photo shows the Kerr Stuart 0-4-2ST on arrival at Corris; because of the cramped location there is insufficient room for a headshunt or turntable, so a traverser has been installed to enable the loco to run round and this can be seen in the foreground.

The actual characterization of age was introduced in the Hellenistic period.Young children enjoyed great favor,whether in in mythological form,as baby Herakles or Eros,or in genre scenes playing with each or with pets.This Eros,has been brought down to earth and disarmed,a conception considerably different from that of the powerful,often cruel and capricious being so often addressed in Archaic poetry.One of the few statue of its kind to survive in tact from antiquity,this figure of a plump baby in repose conveys the sense of a the immediacy and naturalistic detail that the medium of bronze made possible. He is clearly based on firsthand observation.The support of which the god rests is a modern addition,but the work originally would have had a separate base,most likely of stone.
Judging from the extant replicas,the type was popular in Hellinistic and,especially,Roman times.In the Roman period sleeping Eros statues decorated villa gardens and fountains.Their function in the Hellinistic period is less clear.They may have been used in decorations within a sanctuary of Aphrodite or possibly may have been erected in a public park or private,or even royal,garden.
RD24307. The Talyllyn Railway is in Mid-Wales and it runs up the valley of the Afon (River) Fathew from Tywyn on the Cambrian coast to Nant Gwernol in the hills, a distance of 7¼ miles.
It is one of the many narrow gauge railways in Wales but has the unusual gauge of 2ft 3ins, a gauge that is also used by the nearby Corris Railway. Like many other narrow gauge railways in Wales, it owes its existence to nearby slate quarries. Nowadays, it carries tourists and holiday makers instead of slates, and it has the honour of being the first railway in the world to be taken over and run by volunteers as a heritage railway.
This took place in 1951 following the death of the previous owner, Sir Henry Haydn Jones, the previous year and this 0-4-2ST is named SIR HAYDN in his memory. It had previously worked on the nearby Corris Railway and was purchased by the Talyllyn following the closure of the Corris.

The Chevrolet 210 or Two-Ten is a midrange car from Chevrolet that was marketed from 1953 until 1957. The Two-Ten series, introduced for the 1953 model year, replaced the Styleline DeLuxe series. It was actually the best-selling Chevrolet model during 1953 and 54, offering a balance of style and luxury appointments unavailable in the base 150 series, but was less costly than the glitzy Bel Air. Two-Tens offered the widest choice of body styles for 1953, including a convertible, Sport Coupe hardtop, two- and four-door sedans, and four-door station wagons. Unlike the 150 series, Two-Tens were always available with the same luxury options as the Bel Air, including the Powerglide automatic transmission, power window lifts and seat adjuster
Two engines were used in each of the 1953-54 model years, the more powerful Blue Flame unit used with the Powerglide automatic transmission. All Two-Tens had a three-speed Synchromesh manual transmission as standard, with options of overdrive on the the three speed manual or a two speed Powerglide automatic.
