Heading back from Inverness this afternoon and the sky was dark with the waves still rolling and crashing on Loch Ness after the passing of Storm Arwen. I love the loch when it is like this - dark and sinister and feeling more like the sea than an inland body of fresh water... it gives me the heebiejeebies like nowhere else I can think of!

Lunch with one of my oldest friends and fellow rail photographer Dave Hayes and our lovely wives at the 18th Century village inn, The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley, Derbyshire, 29th October 2019. Only problem no Dave and Geraldine? Being close to Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke of Devonshire the pubs in the local villages tend to be called the Devonshire Arms and despite Geraldine selecting the venue Dave had driven to the wrong Devonshire Arms. They were wondering where we were and why they did not seem to have a booking for lunch, the problem was compounded by no mobile phone signal but we sorted it out in the end and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent at the Devonshire Arms, Pilsley.

6,810 M5A1’s were produced between November 1942 and June 1944 when production ceased with the M5A1 being superseded by the M24 Chafee.
The winter sunshine casts long shadows across Peasholm Park, Scarborough and the morning frost is still on the ground where the sun has yet to penetrate, 29th December 2016. Work began on the construction of the island and lake in December 1911 and Peasholm Park was opened was 19th June 1912. Mr Harry. W. Smith, the Borough Engineer set out the new gardens in a Japanese style and the Oriental style remains 100 years later. The park was expanded between 1924 and 1932 and remained a major attraction for the next sixty years. However by the end of the 20th century it was suffering from neglect and vandalism but a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund has enabled the Borough Council to rebuild/refurbish the park back to its original glory.
An eight car class 222 Meridian heading for Nottingham passes Lenton South Junction, 29th December 2007. It was built by Bombardier in 2004/5 as a nine car unit but reduced to an eight car unit in 2006 with the removal of a MSO vehicle. This was used to strengthen a four car class 222 unit up to a five car unit. Operated by East Midlands Trains it still retains Midland Main Line livery.

One of Sanders Services fleet of VDL SB200 chassis/Wright Solar bodied B44F buses stands in the rain in Wells next the Sea, 29th October 2020. This was a rather rushed shot using the camera on my Samsung A7 phone as I was on my way back to our accommodation from the local supermarket loaded down with shopping. Unfortunately, I failed to ensure that I had a shot of the vehicle registration and therefore which of the fleet of nine VDL’s (400-408) this is I can not say.
I have searched the internet and have noticed the Sanders Services branding on this vehicle is not the standard branding and not on any photograph I can find, perhaps someone can identify this vehicle from this branding.
After further studies I am 99% certain this is 408 (YJ60 GDX)
Where are all the trees? When this area was first developed to include the spur into the Hams Hall complex there was little sign of the foliage that would engulf this site back then!
Today I shot an absolutely beautiful house... well... a log cabin, and I really do mean a LOG cabin! Built by hand by the owners who were utterly delightful people.
75 photos delivered tonight after a bit of an epic editing session. I will share some soon but I want them to get a first look before I do so.
But for now I will give you this one....
ISTIAIA - ΙΣΤΙΑΙΑ
Photo taken the weekend of November 28th-29th, 2015, whilst my English wife Theresa Jane Brown and me were visiting friends in Limni, Evia island.
The island of Evia lies along the Eastern coast of Central Greece, and is accessible to the mainland via two bridges, an old wooden bridge and a contemporary suspension bridge. There are also frequent ferries to several parts of the island. It is 175 km long and is the second largest island in Greece, and the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Last night's sunset over Kealakekua Bay, South Kona, Hawaii.
Yesterday was one of those rare crystal-clear, vog-free days here in South Kona, and it led to a beautiful sunset. I hope this brings a little warmth to all my Flickr-friends suffering through bad weather!

Cross Country 170523 passes Lenton South Junction on the approach to Nottingham on a sunny December day, 29th December 2007. The Cross Country Trains franchise had commenced six weeks earlier and 170523 still carries its Central Trains green livery with Cross Country branding.
Great Western Railway 43xx class 2-6-0 5322 stands in the shed at the Didcot Railway Centre, 29th July 2016.
Locomotive History
The Great Western 43xx class was designed by GJ Churchwood and three hundred and forty two examples were built between 1911-1932.5322 was built at Swindon Works in 1917 and on completion was one of twenty Great Western Railway 43xx locomotives sent new to France to help with transporting supplies from the Channel ports to the front line. It returned from France in 1919.It was numbered 8322 beteen 1928 and 1944 .It was withdrawn from Pontypool Road MPD in April 1964 and sold to Woodham Bros of Barry. In1969, after considerable persuasion need to secure its release, it was acquired by a Great Western Society member and was the first ex-Great Western Railway locomotive to leave Barry for preservation, it was towed to Caerphilly in 1969 where it was restored in the open, to working order. The move to Didcot took place in 1973 and 5322 was continued in service until around 1975 when she was stopped for various reasons. The owner at that time believed that items of historical value should not be restored, but maintained in the condition they are in. This meant that the engine stood as it was, static display only. It then passed into the ownership of the Society and has been overhauled, returning to traffic in November 2008. The locomotive was withdrawn in the Summer 2014 with boiler problems and is again a static display.
