Third time ever seeing a Sora, and this one was incredibly cooperative. My first two times lasted seconds. This one outlasted me and I finally walked on. It's actually in the spillway of the local park, where the lake joins back into the flood plain, and where I saw the last one dart back into the bushes. The Sora is in the family Rallidae, which includes rails and you guessed it coots. Check that high-stepping foot! Check it "large" with a couple of clicks...
