A daylily is a flowering plant in the genus Hemerocallis a member of the family Asphodelaceae, subfamily Hemerocallidoideae. Despite the common name, it is not in fact a lily. Gardening enthusiasts and horticulturists have long bred daylily species for their attractive flowers. Thousands of cultivars have been registered by local and international Hemerocallis societies. Daylilies are perennial plants, whose name alludes to its flowers, which typically last about a day. The flowers of most species open in early morning and wither during the following night, possibly replaced by another one on the same scape the next day. Some species are night-blooming. Daylilies are not commonly used as cut flowers for formal flower arranging, yet they make good cut flowers otherwise, as new flowers continue to open on cut stems over several days. Hemerocallis is native to Asia, primarily eastern Asia, including China, Korea, and Japan. This genus is popular worldwide because of the showy flowers and hardiness of many kinds. There are over 80,000 registered cultivars. Hundreds of cultivars have fragrant flowers, and more scented cultivars are appearing more frequently in northern hybridization programs. Some earlier blooming cultivars rebloom later in the season, particularly if their capsules, in which seeds are developing, are removed. 28510

Looking from the Fossdyke Roman Canal outside Torksey in West Lindsey, Lincolnshire towards Cottam Power Station which is on the other side of the River Trent in Nottingham.

Torksey was built at the point where the Roman Foss Dyke meets the river Trent, the Romans established a town here called Tiovulfingacester. In the seventh century St Paulinus baptised a great multitude of people in the river near Torksey, in the presence of King Edwin. At the time of Domesday Book there were three thousand people living here and of all the settlements in Lincolnshire, only Lincoln and Stamford were larger.

The days of the classic EW I push-pull-trainsets with class Re 4/4 II locomotives are numbered, since more and more new rolling stock is beeing delivered. But still there are a few regular services left yet, mostly with peak hour trains around Basel. Therefore it was about time to finally realize this picture, floating around in my head since months.

In the early morning of an already hot summer day, I climbed the valley flank near Olten and was rewarded with this view over the two railway bridges crossing river Aare. Working train 28510, an empty running from Olten to Sissach, an unknown class Re 4/4 II pushes a four coach EW I trainset over the bridge into the Hauenstein base tunnel.

The vast industrial area to the left is the SBB repair workshop Olten, where most of SBB's passenger cars are maintained.

This Scania N230UB/East Lancs Esteem is seen at Donnington Park while finding its way to its place for the day at Showbus International 2016. PRN909 was new in October 2007 to the municipal owned Preston Bus (200), before sale to Stagecoach (28510) and then to the Rotala PLC. PRN 909 was also carried by bus 17 (which later became 99, when used as a training vehicle), which was a Leyland Titan PD3, which was new in October 1961. This Esteem has more recently ended up finding its way into the Diamond Bus North West fleet, where some of the old Preston branding is visible in faint lines.

Visit to the Dinefwr Park and to the Castle late afternoon in March 2019. On some shots the late (in the day) sun can be seen on or through the trees as well as on the castle walls which suddenly take on a warmth not normally associated with the 'grey' stone.

In 2006, Preston Bus took a batch of seven of these East Lancs bodied Scanias, 201-7, PL06RYO/P, PO56JDF/J/K/U/X followed by four more, 200/8-10, PRN909, PN57NFA/C/D, in 10/2007 and solitary 211, PN57NFE in 01/2008. New numbered 200, in 10/2007, this Scania is seen here leaving Preston Bus Station on a wet 15/10/2010 while under the much publicised brief spell of ownership of Preston Bus by Stagecoach. During this spell, some buses received full Stagecoach livery with 'Citi' branding, as this one did, as seen here, while others just received Stagecoach fleetnames and numbers, with their Preston Bus fleetnames covered, although some did still carry Preston Bus fleetnames on the side, but prior to the forced sale of Preston Bus by Stagecoach under the Monopolies and Mergers Commission decision some then received Preston Bus fleetnames in a slightly modified livery but retained their Stagecoach fleetnumbers. This back to Preston Bus under Rotala ownership while two others were retained by Stagecoach. I hope you can follow my description! © Peter Steel 2010.

S75-28510 (July 1975) --- An artist's concept depicting the Soviet ASTP Soyuz spacecraft in Earth orbit. The three major components of the Soyuz are the spherical-shaped Orbital Module on which the letters CCCP (USSR) are printed, the bell-shaped Descent Vehicle in the center, and the cylindrical-shaped Instrument Assembly Module from which two solar panels protrude. The docking system on the Orbital Module was specially designed to interface with the docking system on the Apollo's Docking Module. The painting is by artist Paul Fjeld.

El Espíritu de Soho. Hugo Boss

Broadwick St. Carnaby St. Soho Westminster London Londres
