Spitsbergen / Svalbard, Day Four, June 19, 2016: Hamiltonbukta, Buchananhalvoya, Andoyane, Woodford.
Having brought my 1DX2 for the Zodiac rides looking for wildlife, I ended up shooting a lot of landscapes with it. Although the resolution is a lot less than the 5DSR, the 1DX2 delivers superb dynamic range and tonal variations.
The reason the shutter is 1/1600s in this shot is that I was "bird ready", and I had not yet set up my custom settings for quickly switching between landscape and action modes.

There's going to be plenty of folks who photographed the northern lights. This was with the iPhone out of the bedroom window, so not great quality.
With AMTK 717 on the point, train 284 makes its way through Inwood, having just crossed into Manhattan via the Spuyten Duyvil Swing Bridge.

Work was slow and I spent most of the day just chatting in the back with Nancy!
Def a quiet vibe to campus because of thanksgiving, and I’m not mad about it! The day was dragging though.
Came home and chilled for a little bit then went out with Chris.
Chronicles of a Pandemic Saturday:
- Very crunchy and fall-smelling walk through the leaves.
- Free lamp AND a convenient dog poop disposal.
- Finally harvesting the small basil...tree...that's been growing all summer.
- A socially distanced, masked, park date. Because, you know. Trying. Which is hard...I'm not going to lie, but I really tried. I keep going back and forth between deciding whether or not pandemic dating is a good idea (mentally and emotionally - logistical things aside) or a terrible idea. I keep netting out that it's a good idea because you clearly have a good idea of how much you're willing/want to trust someone right off the bat and how much they're going to respect you and your limits, but terrible because...that's proving to be very hard, haha.

I honestly don't have the energy for something overly conceptual. I tried out something new today on a whim but it didn't work out. I've really overworked myself today and now I'm not feeling good. But I'm happy that i still did my photo and I did try something even if it didn't work. I wish I could tell you more but I feel like I might vomit right now so I'm just going to get to bed. I'll tell you about my day today in tomorrows photos and how crazy it was. I really do hope you're having a more relaxed weekend then me.
