I'm having the laziest Saturday ever. It's just about monsooning outside, so I'm staying indoors in the dark with candles and home-made cookies, while reading Calvin and Hobbes comic books.

I still have enough to make muffins tonight, except they will be entered in to the fair 😁 along with shortbread cookies, and fudge that I made last night. ‘‘Tis the season.
One thing I love about the fact that the sun sets so early in the afternoon is that I get to see how it works it's magic in the stairways of my office building... bouncing off of the brick, woodwork, plants and leather furniture.

NS 282 passes CP Henderson as it enters the Atlanta Terminal. Leading is Sonic Bonnet 4001, one of the first two DC-to-AC conversions that NS completed to extend the life of their older locomotives, hence the special paint scheme that it wears. The 4001 was also famous for being involved in a wreck in 2017 that resulted in the locomotive landing on its side. The engine was eventually rebuilt by the Juniata Locomotive Shops in Altoona, PA in 2020 & it has been running ever since. 2-7-21

Today, I think i just lost my best friend.... for reasons I'm not really wanting to go into. For now, perhaps its for the best, but I can't help but be heartbroken about it. It feels so surreal, almost like a deja vu. This exact senario has happened to me more times than I can count.... maybe its just part of the curse of being me. Somehow I gotta figure out how to keep this from happening in the future, cuz it always hurts... but I dont know how to, because its always comes as a complete suprise. maybe I'm just naive. /sigh
