The mountains were first inhabited in the 9th century by a group of hermit monks who lived on the rock towers. Still some caves in the around 300 m. high rocks are inhibited.

Today 6 monasteries remain out of the original 20.

Kittanning was founded on the site of the 18th Century Lenape (Delaware) Village at the Western end of the Kittanning Path. It is now the County Seat of Armstrong County.

By the early in the 20th century, the city had developed considerable industry: large iron and steel works, foundries, and coal mines, all associated with the steel and iron industries of Pittsburgh. Like many of the prosperous towns of similar age the original architecture was beautiful. It reached its peak of population in 1930.

And another one for the 365 treasure hunt, number 71 Variety.

Today we ... ianbartlett , Pauls Pix 53 , ajlelliott and I, did a 10 mile stroll from Catsfield to Crowhurst. Twas another lovely day and at times it was too hot!!! We roasted under the sun and it's October in England!!!

Anyway, I thought this mixed gathering of sheep would do for the treasure hunt.

We zijn de laatste maand ingegaan van de klassieke Beneluxtreinen, met reeks 28 in het groen/grijs en NS ICRm-materieel. Vanaf de nieuwe dienstregeling zal er namelijk een uurlijkse EuroCity (EC) direct verbinding zijn tussen Brussel en Amsterdam met ICNG, evenals een uurlijkse EuroCity tussen Brussel en Rotterdam (via Breda).

De reeks 28 zal nog steeds vooraan en achteraan de stam van deze EuroCity-treinen hangen, maar dit keer in de typische NMBS-(spaar)kleuren, met I11-rijtuigen tussen de locomotieven.

Op 19 oktober kreeg ik de kans om samen met mijn jongste zoon de 2810 vast te leggen tijdens een doorrit in Duffel, terwijl mijn vrouw en oudste zoon naar de musical 14-18 waren in het Studio 100 Pop-uptheater in Puurs.

On October 19, 2024, the world was still as it should be when this 2810 crossed my lens, hauling an InterCity with ICRm carriages at Duffel, en route to Brussels.
