After a 20-minute (or so) walk through the neighborhoods and in the light rain, our tour group finally arrived at the popular Creek Street. 😊
Have a lovely day, everyone...
There are such meaty and nourishing events happening at the moment. With things for men even! I KNOW!
My Halphas horns by Nefekalum and Constance boots by Phedora were both from this round of The Warehouse, and the Astrom coat is Contraption's release for Midnight Order. Hank hair by Vango can be found at Alpha.
You know we can't post slurls on Flickr but trust me, they are easy to find. Go. Participate in capitalism. You know you wanna.
Out yesterday morning, Aug 27th 2015, and came across 6 Grey Seals bobbing around in the water off Backman Road, Bayswater. One seal was laying back and had a big yawn showing his teeth. They look pretty cute from a distance, but don't be fooled they can be pretty vicious if you get too close.
For the photograph: It was pretty foggy so I got down over the rocks to the shoreline to get as close as possible. Using lightroom to process the photo I used the white, black and contrast sliders under the basic panel to minimize the haze of the fog. I also used a radial filter and the brush to slightly highlight the seal in the ocean.

Most welcome sunshine on the afternoon of 27th which held strong for the clay. Full tide and full Autumn in flow for this 6G09 shot.
It occurs to me that there is something reminiscent of my old Saab 93 Turbo about the bZ, it't even the same colour.
I spent a little time today adding some more Automotive type shots to my portfolio whilst out and about. And when you have Glen Affric on your doorstep you may as well use it as a backdrop!

رمضان مبارک
Today is 27th Ramadhan, the most likely date for Lailat-ul Qadr, 'The Night of Power, of Destiny', when fate is laid down for the next twelve months, with the Hazrat Jibril Amin ~Archangel Gabriel descending to the earth to take stock of the world; actually, it falls at the end of Isha namaaz (night prayer) on the night of 26th (last night), up to Fajar namaaz (the pre-dawn prayer) of the 27th, ie. this morning.
[There is one more odd-numbered night left in Ramadhan, the 28th-29th, which may also be considered as Lailat-ul-Qadr, although any one of the five odd numbered nights in the last ten days of Ramadhan might be considered to be this powerful night, but only Rab-ul-Aalameen will know which night that would be.] Ramadhan passes too quickly!
The classic Iftari treats served in every Pakistani home - pakoras with a spicy fruit chaat served with sweet tamarind chutney, mmm... Accompanied by mango milkshake!
I cooked quite alot of food as my sisters and nieces finally came over for a girlie Iftari. Of course, we all over-ate, but I still insisted that they had dinner before they left!
Chaat~Fruit Salad - chick peas, potatoes, onions, green chilli, dhaniya~coriander~cilantro, peaches, apples, pomegranate, pears, grapes (any kind of fruit in fact, though I didn't add the ubiquitous bananas), served with plain yoghurt and sweet tamarind chutney.
>Pakoras - gram flour, salt, red chilli powder, coriander and zeera powder,
spinach, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, green chillies, dhaniya~coriander~cilantro.

Stanier 8F 48624 drifts into Quorn station with a service to Leicester North, 27th June 2019.
Locomotive History
The Stanier 8F 2-8-0 heavy freight engine was introduced by the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1935 and over the next two years ninety five locomotives were built. At the start of the Second World War in 1939 the design was chosen as the standard freight engine for universal production and between 1940 and 1946 a further seven hundred a fifty seven locomotives were built being allocated to the War Department for both UK and overseas service, the London Midland and Scottish Railway and the London and North Eastern Railway. Twenty three locomotives were lost at sea due to enemy action and eventually six hundred and sixty six locomotives became British Railways stock. 48624 is a Southern Railway built example, being part of a Railway Executive Committee order completed in 1943 at Ashford Works. The locomotive spent its entire working life allocated to Willesden MPD until withdrawn from traffic in July 1965 with a suspected fractured internal main steam pipe. Following withdrawal it was sold to Woodham Brothers and spent the next sixteen years slowly rusting at Barry, South Wales, before being sold for preservation in 1981. The locomotive returned to traffic in May 2009.
This old bridge crosses Eskadale Burn on the southern edge of Strathglass in the Scottish Highlands. It's a scene I have been meaning to photograph for quite some time, properly photograph that is!
The shoot this morning was postponed so only floorplans required for the moment leaving me some time to kill travelling between the job and Drumnadrochit for my other appointment, making this a perfect place to pause!

Two out of use works pilots 08682 and 08602 plus two new Class 710 electric multiple units in the yard at Bombardiers Litchurch Lane Works, 27th March 2019.
Locomotive History
08682 was built at Horwich as D3849 and entered traffic in August 1959 initially allocated to Trafford Park MPD. However its stay was short as six weeks later it was dispatched south, transferred to Camden, North London. In January 1966 it transferred to nearby Willesden when Camden closed and remained at Willesden for the next sixteen years until transferred to Toton in July 1982. In July 1984 it was nine months overdue classified repair (its last repair being in September 1975 at Derby Works) and was placed in store. It remained in store for five months until re-instated in December 1984 following classified repair and fitment of dual train brakes and transferred to Doncaster. In March 1994 it became the Doncaster Works pilot and remained on this duty until the works closed and in early 2008 and it moved to Litchurch Lane.
08602 was originally D3769 and was built at Derby Works, entering traffic in May 1959. Initially allocated to Derby it transferred to Longsight in September 1959 where it would remain until July 1965 when it transferred to Stockport Edgeley for a short spell returning to Longsight in January 1966. Its next move was in October 1985 when it transferred to Carlisle Kingmoor however five months later it was withdrawn. In 1988 it was sold to RFS Industries who gave it an overhaul and number 004 and it has since the early 1990’s been one of the pilot engines at Litchurch Lane Carriage Works.
The slowly decaying abandoned boats on the banks of Lochness near Fort Augustus in Highland Scotland. For something a little different I took this photograph under the full moon to try and get something a little more atmospheric.
The christmas calendar got a bit interrupted but other stuff. So I'll just continue a bit past christmas. It could anyway be a new years calendar instead. Only a couple of days left of the year now, and then it is finally 2015.
I have recently been scanning some photographs from a visit to Aberystwyth in July 1976. This is the only time I had visited Aberystwyth and the only time I had travelled the Cambrian Railway (behind a pair of Class 25’s) so I decided it was time for another visit and here we are forty one years later with 158826 standing the platform of a rather impressive station at Aberystwyth, 27th October 2017.
Around lunch time the Erewash Valley around Toton can get busy with a number of freights. However unfortunately most are northbound which is a problem photographically as you are either shooting into the sun or it’s a cloudy day. Here is a case in point with GDRf 66741 working 4E34, 05:27 Southampton – Doncaster Iport container train, with the locomotive front in deep shadow through Stapleford, 27th May 2020.
To the right under the A52 road bridge is Toton depot with its access road running parallel to the railway, the area of vegetation between the Fast and Slow lines use to be the end of the Up platform of Stapleford and Sandiacre station and the coolong towers in the background belong to Ratcliffe on Soar power station. As a 10 year old lad I use to sit on that platform for a couple of hours on a Saturday having been allowed to “escape” from my Grandparents house, who lived in Stapleford during our weekly visit. After a few Saturdays I eventually plucked up courage to venture down that road to see what was on the other side of the A52 and of course I found the delights of Toton depot. It would have been around September 1966 and the steam sheds were still standing and they had within them around eight Standard Class 2 steam locomotives in store. After that first visit I became a regular visitor up until the early 1980’s. Now you have not got a cat in hells chance of getting down that access road.
Locomotive History
66741 was originally 66581 and leased to Freightliner. It was built in 2005 by General Motors - Electro Motive Division at their factory in London, Ontario, Canada and was unloaded at Newport Docks on the 16th March 2005. After less than five years service with Freightliner it was one of a batch of four Freightliner class 66’s locomotives (66578 – 66581) stored in early December 2009 at Leeds Midland Road. It was briefly reinstated in March 2010 as an operational standby locomotive before returning to store. In March 2011 66581 was sold to GBRf and re-entered traffic in early April 2011 and a few weeks later was renumbered 66741 in the GBRf fleet range of class 66 numbers.
