I've photographed this iconic Eastern Sierra Nevada area countless times over the years. Slide film, medium format, black and white, infrared, sunrise and sunset, midnight, rain and shine, wind and no wind. It wasn't even on my recent agenda, but as I was sliding down the mountain pass heading for my last evening at my motel, there were these really nice clouds building. I wrestled with it - should I? Oh, why not? Only a few miles. As I drove into the parking area though, the tufa area was shaded by the clouds. Been there done that, so I turned around. Got all the way back to the highway and thought: "Jan, the clouds aren't socked in, they'll move. Do it, spend an hour or two, no biggie". So I turned around and headed back down. It was worth a smile and bumped my steps over 12k for the day. Check it "large".
Toen ik constateerde dat deze stam met 27 + I10 + M4 in de omloop zat voor de IC's tussen Hamont en Antwerpen-Centraal, besloot ik om gisteren avond toch even langs het station te passeren. Als de loc, zoals in dit geval, aan de kant van Antwerpen hangt, kan dat best wel fotogenieke plaatjes opleveren. We zien deze leuke samenstelling met de 2740 op kop wachten op vertrek aan het perron in Mol.

Na familie bezoek in deze omgeving, werd er aan begin van de avond gefietst naar Hogebrug.
Zo af en toe verschijnt een SNG op deze lijn.
We zien stel 2740 als IC van Utrecht naar Den Haag rijden.
For several days I've been sharing photos of coyotes feeding heavily on grasshoppers - finding them in the bunched grass, chasing them as they try to fly off - so this is a good time to slip in a hopper close up from last summer. I haven't done a lot of focus stacking, but did play with it on a cool morning in August, when activity was minimal and there was no wind. This is a 12-image stack, camera on tripod, 105mm macro + 1.7x teleconverter, changing the focus slightly for each shot.

832 N. Main Street, circa 1900-1901 - The Spragg house has an eclectic form combining elements of Romanesque and Queen Anne architectural styles. The masonry workmanship is excellent. The owner, Martha E. Spragg was the wife of Dr. S.L.S. Spragg, a verysucessful physician and surgeon. The house served both as residence and office.
