Many people call the month of August "The Dog Days of Summer." I call August "Peek Butterfly Season." The butterflies in the neighborhood are flourishing in spite of the fact that I have not had much time to raise them this year.

I did give the monarchs a nice boost in the spring, raising nearly four hundred. The Polydamas "aka" Goldrims that are in protective custody seem to be holding out for an overwinter cycle. They will be the first out in the spring.

If all goes well, I will begin raising a variety from now until November. Just not the normal amount I raise.

A rather goofy mixed lashup, consisting of METX 519 and 413 pulling the 2617 out of North Glenview. At least the locomotive I wanted to see was leading but would've been extra cool if they were both SD70MACHs if it had to be a double header.

Every now and then a couple of my friends who have dogs allow me to photograph them at the local shows. Of course, I just want to fire that fast shutter, so I photograph other dogs too for my workout. So here's one. Over the jumps is my favorite. As for the lens, on review I probably could have used a longer focal length as this is cropped a lot. Sometimes, though, the moderate zoom is handy.
