東寺是一位於京都市南區九條町的寺院。又名教王護國寺。為東寺真言宗的總本山。山號八幡山、本尊藥師如來。以「古都京都的文化財」的一部份而列入世界遺產名單之中。而境內的五重塔為日本最高的五重塔。

春天時，最為醒目的，是位於東寺入口不遠的「八重紅枝垂枝櫻」，已有 120 歲，依然在春天時粉嫩嬌艷動人。其亦有「不二桜」之名，為紀念弘法大師的「不二のおしえ」而命名，於 2006 年轉植於東寺。
