As the sun sets over the Sierra Nevada mountains, BNSF's trackage rights to Provo, UT is seen crawling east at Casa Loma. Trailing is two 25th anniversary locomotives, one from BNSF and another from the Portland & Western. The PNWR locomotive was headed for the Utah Railway in Provo.

Looking south along the Erewash Canal from Dockholme Lock, Long Eaton, 25th August 2018. The Erewash Canal obtained its act of parliament in 1777 and was completed in 1779. It linked the River Trent with the Cromford Canal at Langley Mill Basin, the Nutbrook Canal at Stanton and the Derby Canal at Sandiacre. It also made connection with the Nottingham Canal just south of Langley Mill Basin. Whilst the Erewash Canal is still in use up to Langley Mill the adjoining canals have all been abandoned.

I am taking my six year old granddaughter Amy football training however, we are a little bit early so we while away the time with Grandad trying to be a bit “arty” with his phone camera, 25th July 2021.

The Chapel of Saint Mary the Virgin at Clumber Park 25th June 2022. Opened in 1889 the magnificent ‘Cathedral in miniature” was commissioned to serve the Seventh Duke of Newcastle-Under-Lyne and his small family. It is no ordinary country house Chapel being the same size as most Parish churches.

Clumber House was demolished in 1938 the Chapel and Stableyard are all that remain.

Seeing as today is the day the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad was formed, it seems kinda fitting that I should post some BNSF shots. BNSF 8546 leads CP 687 past Miller Park, soon to be renamed to AmFam Field, and through the control point of Grand Avenue on the western side of Milwaukee. Nothing too shabby here - just an ACe, but for the anniversary, it fits.

Out for a Sunday afternoon stroll with my lovely wife we come across this Swan drifting along one of the old gravel pits at Attenborough Nature Reserve, 25th April 2021.

CN C704 rolls south through Lucedale, MS on CN’s Beaumont Subdivision. The 135-car coal train is on the last leg of its journey from the Powder River Basin as they approach Evanston, where the train will be handed over to the Mississippi Export to be unloaded at the Victor J Daniel Power Plant in Helena, MS. The train is led by BNSF 6022, one of ten “25th Anniversary” units BNSF released in 2020 featuring eight stickers along the sides commemorating BNSF’s predecessor railroads. In the second position is BNSF 9625, an SD70MAC wearing the Burlington Northern executive scheme.

.... Not exactly the full group, but a representative sample. (Should have been a statistician). In front of Chennai House near Rajah Annamalai Mandram.

Sunrise in Wellington, on the morning of the 25th March 2020. At that time, it was just 16 hours before New Zealand plunged into an unprecedented level 4 lockdown against COVID-19.

With engineering works again this weekend on the West Coast Main Line the Daventry – Mossend container trains are on divert. DRS 88004 "Pandora" + 68001 "Evolution" pass Ilkeston heading north up the Erewash Valley working 4Z44, 11;30 Daventry to Mossend. 25th February 2023.

I managed to grab this shot with my phone camera whilst on shopping duty with my lovely wife at the Armstrong Mill “shopping centre” (converted Victorian lace/hosiery factory). She had just disappeared into a changing room with an armful of clothes, and I casually had a look on Open Train Times at what might be about. Lo and behold 4Z44 was just a couple of minutes away and I managed to find this vantage point for the shot.

8256 is seen leading the first portion of 3AS8, the Indian Pacific as it heads towards Platform 3 at Central on Wednesday 25th May 2016. This is believed to be one of the first times an 82 class has been part of the Indian Pacific loco combination.

It is believed the 82 class may replace the more regular DL class on Indian Pacific banking duties, required to assist the train up the Blue Mountains on the return leg to Adelaide. Pacific National currently have a number of spare 82 class locomotives due to the downturn in Hunter Valley coal traffic and recent loss of the Leigh Creek coal service.

Milwaukee Road 261's 25th Anniversary Excursion ran September 22, 2018, between Minneapolis and Plato, Minnesota. The trip, dubbed "The Legend of Frank Sandberg," was a special run for the American Association of Private Car Owners. The excursion traversed the former Milwaukee Road line west of Minneapolis that's now operated by Twin Cities & Western.

This in-camera multi-exposure photograph was taken in May 2024 during my first visit to New York this century. I was last there 30 years ago. I had not been there before with my partner, Andy. May 2024 was the month of our 25th anniversary and this trip was our way to celebrate.

Made this for a 25th wedding anniversary.

The open rose was made in my flower making class. Top tier is white choc mud, middle tier is choc mocha mud, and bottom tier is dummy. Silver bow, band and disc, are all fondant and brushed with silver lustre.

I had sworn to myself that I was not going to take a photograph of Loch Ness today. Honest, I had.

BUT

Heading back from @FarmNess this lunchtime, having hunted down a rather lovely haggis (they are in season just now) the weather was turning and the rain was pushing the sunshine down and out of the Great Glen. Honestly, it would have been rude not to stop for at least one photograph!

Autumn Mists

One of the first autumn mists of this year, cobweb spotted on the park railings on my way to work.
