Von Alcoy führt eine nicht elektrifizierte, eingleisige Strecke nach Xàtiva, wo Anschluss an die Hauptstrecke Valencia - La Encina (und weiter nach Alicante bzw. Albacate) besteht. Die 63 Kilometer lange Strecke ist landschaftlich sehr interessant, besonders reizvoll ist der Abschnitt zwischen Ontinyent und Agres. Hier verläuft die Strecke entlang des Tals des Riu Clariano inmitten einer eindrucksvollen Felsenlandschaft, auch mehrere kurze Tunnel sind zu finden. Mit etwas Klettern auf die teils steilen Felsen lassen sich tolle Ausblicke umsetzen. Am 07.12.2024 wartete ich auf die nachmittägliche Fahrt R 14416 aus Alcoy, für die 592 255 zum Einsatz kam.

From Alcoy, a non-electrified, single-track line leads to Xàtiva, where it connects to the main line Valencia - La Encina (and further to Alicante or Albacate). The 63-kilometer-long route offers very interesting scenery, with the section between Ontinyent and Agres being particularly beautiful. The line runs along the valley of the Riu Clariano amidst an impressive rocky landscape, including several short tunnels. With a bit of climbing on the sometimes steep cliffs, magnificent views can be achieved. On December 7, 2024, I waited for the afternoon trip R 14416 from Alcoy, for which 592 255 was used.

The ruins of the tower of San Sadurniño, hidden in a bay near the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, are one of the greatest treasures of the historic town of Cambados. Its stones recall the battles with Vikings and other hard-hitting invaders who came to plunder the city. However, the Sadurniño Tower was also a beacon that helped friendly ships safely reach the port.

CP 248 (Foreground, Eastbound) is making as much of the 25 MPH it possibly can make traversing the Homer siding to clear a path for CP 255 between Homer West and Tower CK before a late Amtrak #8 becomes an issue.

The KCS 1776 was making its debut trip between Chicago and St. Paul, cut short of seeing the Twin Cities for its first time by making a left hand turn west of Goodview and up the DM&E to run the RCPE interchange manifest to Tracy. The 1776 returned to Chicago on 254/2-254, then turned west on the D&I where it is currently heavily damaged due to fallen trees from a thunderstorm. Hopefully they throw some new glass on it soon and it keeps makings its rounds.
